The annual reuuion of the veterans
c f the Moots Cross Roads section
will be held at Bethel Baptist
church on Saturday, the 27th. An
interesting and enjoyable occasion

weather the festival Friday
night was not as it would have been

crowd numbered about two hundred
mostly children and young
folks. Those who were there enjoyed
themselves. The refreshments,
especially the ice cream,
were delicious.

i The stock of goods of Joyner Iiros
was sold under mortgage of A. II.
Williams A* Co. last Saturday. The
sale was attended by a pretty good
\ crowd, but theie seemed to he but
little desire to buy the goods. They
were knocked down to A. H. Williams
A-Co. for $l,oi>0. The mortgage
debt is about $2,000 and the
unsecured debts about $ 1,30ft. The
unsecured creditors will get nothing
and the mortgagees will not
get their claim satisfied unless they
can work it out of the stock and accounts.
Mr. George B. Ro.<ke has accepted
the position of principal of a
school in Lancaster. The school
will open on July 29. We wish
him abundant success. Mr. Itooke
declares that it is his iM ention to
have a lise a<nd complete university
education if it takes him until he is
40 years old to get through. His
determination is to teach four or
five years, then take a course at
John Hopkins or the University of
Chicago, and then go through the
great (iernian university at Leipsic.
