A Farmer’s Outfit. Lust winter I built for -ibont eighty dollars a shop sixteen by twenty, twelve feel to eaves, with ten feet addition to end for forge, etc, I did the entire work—framed it, built forge and fine, and roofed with steel, I want to say, right here, that in the last five years I have cleared the cost of tools and building My farm is small—fifty-five and a half acres. 1 need the same tools as were needed to effectually work three hundred and fifty acres at mj fathers home. Wear and tear are not so great on small areas, but a general assortment is needed, nevertheless. I have fotir horses which need shoeing most of the year. Wagons need attention from year to year, and other nteusilt must be overhauled each season. If a new tool is needed, I have a place to make it. If a wagon needs paint ing, I have a place to paint it, free from dust and not in the way. I do not claim to be a mechanic; nevar worked under one for an hour. Never saw a mechanic forge of any kind; do not know how he might go at it. But anything ordinarily used in a shop 1 make and am not nshemed of it when done. I had hist three things to start with—bellows, anvils and vise, from the aid of which I have u nicely equipped shop. Friends and strangers always find me at home on rainy or bad days, fixing plows, harrows, shoeing, making same use ful tool or experimenting on some thing new. How any farmer suc cessfully manages without some sort of workshop I urn unable to con ceive. Arouse some of the latent energies of your nature, brothers, and what you can do. If yon cun adapt yourself to the needs of your sur roundings, then you will have gain ed.—Practical Funner. Children Cry for Pltcher’i Cutoria. A curious clock, destined for the World’s Fair at Chicago, has been tnade by u clock-maker at Warsaw, tiamed Goldfaden, who has worked at it al* years. The clock represents a railway station, with waiting-rooms for the traveller, telegraph and ticket Offices, a very pretty, well-lighted platform, and a flower garden, in the oeutro of which is a sparkling foun tain of clear water. Past the rail way Station run the lines. There are also signal-boxes, signals, lights and reservoirs—it) fact, everything that belongs to a railway station, lo the Smallest detail. Ih the cupola of the central tower is a clock which shews the time of the plane; two clocks in the side cupolas show the time at New York and on the two outermost towers are a calendar and U barouv* ter, Fvery quarter of an hour the Station begins to show signs of life. First of all the telegraph official be gins to work. He despatches a tele gram stating that the line is clear, The doors open, and on the platform Appear the station master and his as sistant) the clerk is seen ut the win dow of the ticket office; and the piontimen come out of their boxes and close the barriers. A long line Of people forms at the ticket office to buy tickets; porters carry luggage; the bell is rung, and then out of the tunnel COtnes a train, rushing Into the station undj after the engine has given a shrill, whistle, stops. A workman goes frOlll Uilfi iilgfi hi carn age and teste the axles with a ham mer. Another pumps water into the boiler of the engine. After the third aignal with the bell, the engine whis tles and the train disappears into the opposite tunnel; the station-master and his assistants leave the platform laud the doors of the waiting-rooms close behind them; the pointsmen re turn into their boxes and perfect stillness prevails till, in a quarter of au hour, the whole is repeated.
