(Sunphoto) Shealy’s Florist joins Florafax Mrs. Evelyn Hendrix, owner of Shealy’s Hillcrest Florist, 2300 Drayton Street, Newberry, was formally accepted today as a subscriber of Florafax De livery, Inc., one of the world’s largest flowers-by-wire organi zations. Affiliation with Florafax pro vides subscriber florists with a link to more than 8,000 fellow subscribers in all fifty states of the United States. In addi tion, Florafax provides coverage in South America and has sign ed a reciprocal agreement with a service in Canada which makes the facilities of 1,500 Ca nadian florists available to Flo rafax subscribers. Not confined to the American continent, Florafax has recipro cal affiliations with overseas or ganizations providing outlets for more than thirty countries in Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and the Scandinavian countries. The local shop’s affiliation with Florafax offers residents improved service and a means for sending flowers anywhere in the free world. as the major cause, the State Highway Department reported today. In Newberry County, 32 licen ses were withdrawn. Since the fiscal year began last July, 37,095 licenses have been withdrawn. The total in cludes both license suspensions and revocations. The May total of 3,358 in cludes the suspension of state driving privileges for 352 out- of-state drivers. Almost half of last month’s withdrawals, 1,602, were from drivers in the 17-29 age group. Driving under the influence accounted for 1,693 of the cases. Other causes were: violation of the point system, 509; violation of the Safety Responsibility Law; 291; and reckless driv ing, 79. Various other infrac tions, ranging from driving with a suspended license to using a vehicle in a felony, accounted for 786 withdrawals. Of the 37,095 licenses with drawn since July, driving under the influence has been the rea son for 16,500, violation of the Safety Responsibility Law for 5,520, point system violation for 5,203, reckless driving for 807, and miscellaneous other causes for 9,065. According to SSG Gwinn, Ar my recruiter for Newberry, the Army is accepting a limited number of highly-qualified ap plicants for enlistment in the Strategic Communications Com mand. For those eligible, training is available in microwave sys tems, satellite communications, radar, computers and several other highly technical fields. An added feature of the en listment option allows an en listee to choose service in Eu rope if the Army makes the decision on which of some nine schools he will attend. Or, he can select his own school from the list and leave his assign ment to the Army’s discretion. In either respect, he is gua ranteed attendance at a highly technical school.
