Albert Watson, the Republican candidate for gover nor was one of the featured speakers at the South Caro lina Teenage Republican Camp held at Newberry College last week. The delegates attended classes on political or ganization, discussed domestic issues, conducted a mock election, in addition to hearing speeches from the party’s candidates. Smyrna church sets revival Revival services will be con ducted at Smyrna Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Alfred Bix- ler, August 23-28, at 8 p.m. each evening. Rev. Bixler was born to mis sionary parents in h'onte isova, Brazil on March 15, 1915. He came to the United States at the age of 16 to attend high school. He is a graduate of Dav idson College with a B. A. de gree and from Columbia Theo logical Seminary with a B. D. degree in 1942. He is married to the former Miss Margaret Duckett of Char lotte, N. C. and they have three children. He has served as assistant pastor of the Shenandoah Pres byterian Church in Miami, Fla. He has also served pastorates in Tennessee, Georgia and Ala bama, and has been pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Clinton for the past six years. For the last four years, he has served on the Board of World Missions and for the past two years, has served on the Andean Mission Board. The public is cordially invited to attend the services. HIPP COMPLETES OFFICER COURSE FT. LEAVENWORTH -Army National Guard Captain Joseph F. Hipp, Jr., whose parents live at 49 Hartford Heights, complet ed Phase 10 of the command and general staff officer course at the U. S. Army Command and General Staff College, Ft. Leavenworth, Kan., July 18. He was on the Commandant’s List. The course, which was attend ed by officers from the active Army, Army National Guard, and Army Reserve, is organiz ed into 10 phases and given over a five-year period with the final two-week phase conducted at Ft. Leavenworth. The training is designed to prepare selected officers for res ponsible positions at division and support command levels. It also provides them with an understanding of the duties of corps and field army general staff officers, and of Army par ticipation in joint and combined operations. Capt. Dominick, 78, of Rt. 1, Prosperity, died Wed nesday morning of last week at Newberry County Memorial Hos pital after a short illness. She was born in Newberry County, daughter of the late John S. and Thompson Ann Dawkins Dominick. She was a member of the Zion Methodist Church. Surviing are a number of nieces and nephews, including Miss Myra Hardy of the home. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Thursday from her church with the Rev. Raymond Brock conducting the service.
