' i'N * / \ 70; RESIDENTS OF THE CITY AND SURROUNDING AREA: During this Holiday Season of friendship and goodwill, it is traditional that those of us in city government take this means of expressing our deep appreciation for the honor of serv ing you and to pledge our continued efforts in the future for an even greater degree of dedi cated, public service. Christmas of '69 is of special significance in that a decade in our history is drawing to a close; a decade which has brought forth many "firsts" in our individual lives, community, state and nation. We have experienced unparalleled growth and prosperity; our material blessings are many. As a nation, we have reached into the outer spaces of the universe with the landing of Americans on the moon. In contrast to those who would counsel otherwise, we stand today more unified, more blessed than in no other period of our history. As we pause during this Holiday Season to celebrate the birth of His Son, let us seize upon the opportunity to re-dedicate ourselves to serve in a still greater capacity in all areas where responsible leadership and good, solid citizenship are the "keys to success". Let us not fail, during this happy season, to thank Him for the many "rights" in our society. As we re call His promise of faith, peace, love and hope for the world, let us offer a special prayer that any of the mistakes or self-doubts of the 60's have but strengthened our will and determination for the decade ahead. As a community, let us resolve an even greater degree of cooperation and good will as we encounter the daily challenge and forces of change. It is in this sense that your Mayor, Members of City Council and city employees wish you and yours the very happiest of holiday seasons. May your every Christmas wish be grant ed and may the Spirit of Christmas, with all its bright promise and hope, live in your heart each and every day of the New Year and ail the years to come. C. A.
