Mr. and Mrs. Dale M. Willis are residing at 1936 Evans St. Mrs. W. S. Franklin has mov ed to 703 Main St. to make her home. L. E. Gatlin service held Luther E. Gatlin, Sr , 79, of 1323 Milligan St., died Tuesday at a Columbia hospital. He was born in Darlington, son of the late Ira P. and Ger trude Anderson Gatlin. He was a member of Epting Memorial Methodist Church and was em ployed by Mollohon Plant of the Kendall Co. before retiring. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Eunice Boggero Gatlin; six sons, L. E. Gatlin, Jr. of Newberry, Karl F. Gatlin of Charlotte, N.C. Keith A. Gatlin of Rock Kill, Curtis Gatlin of Wheaton, Md., Donald F. Gatlin of Columbia and Clyde T. Gatlin of N e w York, N. Y.; four daughters, Mrs. Emilia Simmons, Laurel, Md., Mrs. Betty Lockwood and Miss Audrey Gatiin of New York and Mrs. Anne Cole of Colum bia; a brother, Loy T. Gatlin oi Greenwood; 21 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were con ducted Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Epting Memorial Methodist Church by the Rev. Donald Fun derburk and the Rev. M. B. Lee. Burial was in Newberry Mem orial Gardens. J. D. Leitzsey rites Wednesday John David Leitzsey, Sr., 75, died Monday at Newberry Hos pital. He was born in the Bethle hem Section of the county, son of the late Jacob and Minnie Riddlehuver Leitzsey. He was a retired saw mill operator and farmer and was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nannie Suber Leitzsey; a son, John David Leitzsey, Jr. of Po maria; a sister, Miss Eunice Leitzsey of Pomaria; and three brothers, Thomas H., G. Heber and Otto Leitzsey of Pomaria. Funeral services were con ducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church by the Rev. Elford B. Roof and the Rev. James E. Taylor. Burial was in the church cemetery. Man killed in 1-26 collision A Greenville man was killed, apparently instantly, in a two- car crash on 1-26 four miles east of here about 4 p.m. Tues day and a Columbia woman w'as charged with reckless hom icide in the death. C. W. Jones, deputy Newberry County Coroner, identified the victim as Claude Pinkney Vaughn, 56, of 5 Northside Cir cle, Greenville. Charged with reckless homi cide in a warrant signed by highway patrol officers and be ing held in the Newberry Coun ty Jail Tuesday night was a woman Jones tentatively identi fied as Margaret Elaine LeRoy of Columbia. Jones said Vaughn’s wife, Dorothy, was a passenger in the 1967 Plymouth driven by her husband and traveling east on the interstate. Mrs. Vaughn was taken to Greenville General Hos pital. She apparently was not critically injured. The deputy coroner said that a 1969 Pontiac, occupied by the LeRoy woman, crashed into the rear of the Vaughn car which was pushed over a steep em bankment where it overturned several times. Drown victim was native of Prosperity NEW ORLEANS A body found in the Mississippi River Sunday night has been identi fied by the Coast Guard as that of one of the 15 missing crew men of the cutter White Alder. The body was that of Michael R. Agnew. 24, of Metairie, an electrician mate second class on the cutter. He was from Pros- perity. S C The White Alder sank Dec. 7 near White Castle, following a collision with a freighter. The crash killed 17 Coast Guards men and two bodies were re covered a short time later. Agnew was identified by den tal records matched with the dental structures of the body found in the river. Other iden tifying articles were a set of car keys and a knife found on the remains. A military funeral for Agnew is planned in Prosperity, where his father George A. Agnew lives. in the river near Burnside by a tugboat captain on Sunday night and recovered a short time later by Ascension Parish auth orities. The body was taken to Donaldsonville where it was id entified Tuesday.
