The South Carolina Farmers Cooperative Council sponsored the awards program. Being unable to attend the recent annual meeting of the cooperative council to receive the award, presentation was made at the June Dairy Month program of the New berry Kiwanis Club. A Kiwanian, Mr. Hawkins, is well-known for his many years of leadership in Newberry County agriculture, es pecially dairy farming. Hartman dies at Mills Clinic Joseph Clyde Hartman, 66, died early Sunday morning at the Mills Clinic after a short illness. Mr. Hartman was bom and reared in this county, the son of the late J. Berry and Mattie Counts Hartman. For a number of years he was employed as machinist for Prosperity Lum ber Co. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, a mem ber of the church council, and was one of the oldest members of the Prosperity Fire Depart ment. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Esoline Harmon Hartman, Pros perity; one son, Clyde Hubert Hartman, Columbia; two daugh ters, Miss Annie Reba Hartman of the home and Mrs. Carlton B. Bowers of Little Mountain; three brothers, George H a r t- man of Newberry, Leslie Hart man of Whitmire and Charles Hartman of Prosperity; three sisters, Mrs. J. B. Livingston, C. L Fulmon service Sunday Charlie Lee Fulmon, 63, of the Little River-Dominick com munity, Route 1, Kinards, died Friday in a Columbia hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Newberry and Laurens counties the son of the late David Chas. and Susan Tomlin Fulmon. He was a security guard at New England Mobile Home plant and was a member of Little River- Dominick Presbyterian Church. He was a veteran of World War II. Sumving are his wife, Mrs. Gertrude Merchant Fulmon; a son, Charlie Lee Fulmon, Jr., of the home; two brothers, Col ie and John H. Fulmon of New berry; and two sisters, Mrs. Cora Bobb of Kinards and Mrs. Mollie Smith of Lexington. Funeral services were con ducted at his church Sunday by Rev. T. G. Daum and Rev. Ben ton Lutz.
