Stand- Parker wins mock election A mock election held at Newberry College shows an averwhelming vote of approval for Republican Senatorial can didate Marshall Parker. The mock election was spon sored by the GUNG-HO club, a non-partisam political in terest group. A final tabula tion of the votes gave Parker 71.5 percent of the student’s vote, and 28.5 percent for Rol lings. Commenting of his victory, Parker said, “This mock elec tion victory at Newberry Col lege shows that college stu dents there favor my approach to America’s problems and my solution to those problems. Both my opponent, Mr. Rollings and I spoke at Newberry College prior to this mock election— Mr. Rollings on Sept. 26; I on Oct. 3. Gilbert, Clinton, is District Chairman. 4-H’ers may get pine seedlings The West Virginia Pulp and Paper company is making av ailable free pine seedlings to 4-H club members of Newberry county. The program is a con tinuation of the program in ef fect last year. A club member may receive one or two thous and slash or loblolly pine seed lings free of charge who agrees to plant and care for them. Any 4-H Club member in terested in these pine seedlings should contact J. O. Donkle, Associate County Agent, and fill out a request form. These applications must be filled out by the first of Nov ember. Pine seedlings will then be delivered to the West Vir ginia Pulp and Paper Wood Yard at Prosperity on Thurs day, December 12, where they can be picked up by the 4-H club member.
