I-’or many years, ac creditation was thought of only for hip r h schools — in fact, the name of the Souther: Associa tion formerly was "Colleges and Secondary Schools." In recent years, however, the State Department and the Southern Association (SACS, as it is called) have pushed the elementary schools to be come accredited.In the case of SACS, this calls for a “self- study” on the part of the in dividual schools, by the faculty and administration of t h e schools. Hart Jordan of Newberry was elected to the hoard of directors of the State < ’hambet of (dmmene Thursday .Jordan, plant manager of the Oak'and IMant of Kendall Company, will serve a l! year term on the hoard as the rep resentative of Newberry county. A native South Carolinian, Hart is a member and former president of the Lions Club and was treasurer of the United Fund in 10'M.
