Shealy Jr. with litter bags for City of Newberry vehicles. The bags were pre sented by the bank to county and municipal officials over the county as part of the county beautification program. Tuesday rites for Mrs. Lake Mrs. Bessie Day Nichols Lake, 78, wife of Edwin 0. Lake, of Rt. 4, Newberry, died early Monday morning at her home after several years of de clining health. She was born and reared in Newberry County and was the daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Laura Hawkins Nichols. Mrs. Lake was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and the Ladies’ Bible Class. Besides her husband, Edwin O. Lake, she is survived by four sons, Edwin S. Lake, Duncan; Charles J. Lake, Clyde N. Lake and Walter T. Lake, all of Newberry; one daugh ter, Mrs. Claude W. (Lois) Do minick, Prosperity; nine grand children; and 12 great grand children. One daughter, Mrs. James H. (Eoline) Boozer, pre ceded her to the grave several years ago. Funeral service was held Tuesday at 3 p.m. from St. Luke’s Lutheran Church with Light-as-a-feather leather with matching gingham lining Open Fridays till 9 p.m. ANDERSON’S Rev. J. Hilton Roof and Dr. Thomas F. Suber conducting the service. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers were Dud ley Hawkins, Dempsey Nichols, James E. Nichols, Ben Colie Ni chols, Herman Nichols and Hen ry Nichols. Mrs. Ida Wise died Monday Mrs. Ida Fulmer Wise, 88, widow of George L. Wise, died Monday afternoon in a local hospital after a long illness. She was born in Lexington County, a daughter of the late David Calvin and Jane Shealy Fulmer, and was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, the LCW, and an honorary member of the American Legion Auxil iary. She was a double Gold Star Mother. Surviving are three sons, G. Herman, Ray A. and Charles E. Wise of Newberry; five daugh ters, Mrs. Vernon (Elberta) Pugh and Mrs. E. Otway (Ina Mae) Shealy of Prosperity, Mrs. John L. (Adelaide) Fulmer of Lexington, Ky., Mrs. James R. (Peggy) Lathan of Greens boro, N. C. and Mrs. J. H. (El len) Keisler of Gilbert; a broth er, Jacob W. Fulmer of New berry; two sisters, Mrs. B. L. Amick of Prosperity and Mrs. Henry L. Shealy of Newberry; and 24 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were con ducted Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church by Rev. Paul Hatch. Burial was in the church cemetery. T. L. Richardson dies suddenly Thomas Leon (Bully) Rich ardson, 45, husband of Mrs. Margaret Dowd Richardson, died suddenly early Saturday morning at his residence, Rt. 3, .Prosperity. Mr. Richardson was born and reared in Newberry County and was the son of Mrs. Veta Kib- ler Richardson and the late James Leo Richardson. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of St. Paul’s Luther an Church, and a member of the S. C. National Guard for 20 years. He was employed ir the maintenance department ol Headquarters Battery S.G.N.G. Mr. Richardson is survived by his wife, Mrs. Margaret Dowd Richardson, Prosptrity; one son, Thomas Steve Rich ardson, GMA, Milledgeville, Ga.; his mother, Mrs. Veta K. Richardson, Prosperity; t wo brothers, William Richardson »nd John Linwood Richardson, ooth of Prosperity; two sisters, Mrs. George E. (Nora Emma) Counts of Prosperity and Mrs. Samuel (Marzelle) Wiggers of Columbia, and a number of uncles and aunts. Funeral was held Sunday at 3 p.m. from St. Paul’s Luther an Church with Rev. Harry Grout, Rev. Wyman Dowd and Rev. J. A. Keisler Jr. conduct ing the service. Burial was in the church cemetery.
