Cannon rites held Sunday Virgil Lee Cannon, 65, of Chapin, died Friday in a Col umbia hospital. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at Mt. Horeb Lutheran church by the Rev. E. A. Dasher. Interment was in the church cemetery. Among his survivors are two sisters, Mrs. W. D. Swittenberg of Little Mountain and Mrs. H. Fulmer of Prosperity. Mrs. Inez Holt services Sunday Mrs. Inez Darby Holt, 72, widow of Mannie L. Holt, died Friday morning at Columbia hospital. Mrs. Holt was born in New berry, daughter of the late Newton and Elizabeth Darby. She had lived in Columbia for more than 50 years and was a member of Wesley Memorial Methodist church. Presented at debutante ball Miss Harriet Rebecca Thomas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Miles P. Thomas of Lexington, N. C was presented as one of the debutantes for 1966 by the Charity League of Lexington at the Twelfth annual sub-deb utante Ball on Tuesday, June 7. Miss Thomas is the grand daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam Samuel Allen of 810 Cald well street, Newberry. She was among the honorees at several teas and dinners prior to mak ing her debut along with 86 other girls over North Caro lina. Miss Thomas’ father was her chief escort, and her mother and grandmother were included among the guests of the Deb utante Ball. Mr. and Mrs. Allen, Harriet Dickerson and children had previously attended the high school graduation of Miss Thomas on June 1 in Lexing ton. GA fellowship met Wednesday The Golden Age Fellowship held its regular monthly meet ing at the home of Mrs. Guy Whitener Jr. on Wednesday af ternoon. The president, Mrs. F. G. Hartley, called the meet ing to order. Mrs. P. E. Way had the devotionals, giving some beautiful thoughts from a selection: What it Means To Be a Christian. The president told of the Golden Age Assembly to be held at Columbia College June 28-30. Mrs. Davis gave some highlights of the programs to be used at these meetings. Mrs. Lula Bedenbaugh and Mrs. Hartley will be delegates to the Assembly and several other la dies plan to attend some part of the meeting. The Fellowship is happy to add the name of Mrs. E. R. Baker to its rolls. There will be no meeting of the Fellowship during July and August. During the recreation period, conducted by Mrs. Ora Daven port, a very interesting flower quiz and a floral wedding were enjoyed. The group then joined in singing several old familiar hymns. Delicious refreshments were served from a beautifully dec orated table. The ladies gave Mrs. Whitener a rising vote of thanks for her hospitality.
