Overloading is
safety hazard
Thinking about taking the
gang fishing in your outboard
this weekend ? Better think
twice.
Overloading a boat can cap
size it, cautions the American
Insurance Association.
Most boat manufacturers post
an OBC (Outboard Boating
Club of America) capacity plate
! on each boat showing the max-
i imum recommended weight that
the craft can safely carry.
Each person aboard should
wear a life jacket—NOT de
pend on the cushion-type pre
servers that often float out of
reach. One never knows when
an accident will occur and the
boat will tip over.

Driving, drugs
dangerous mix
Drugs and driving can make
a fatal mix.
The rule that those who drink
should not drive is equally
sound advice for many persons
who take medicinal drugs, the
American Insurance Association
warns.
Some medications, even those
purchased without prescription,
can dull your senses and im
pair your driving ability.
Consult your physician or
druggist about the side effects
of the medicinal drugs you are
using, before you get behind
the wheel. It could spell the
difference between your life or
death.

GA fellowship
met Wednesday
The Golden Age Fellowship
held its regular monthly meet
ing at the home of Mrs. Guy
Whitener Jr. on Wednesday af
ternoon. The president, Mrs.
F. G. Hartley, called the meet
ing to order. Mrs. P. E. Way
had the devotionals, giving
some beautiful thoughts from
a selection: What it Means To
Be a Christian.
The president told of the
Golden Age Assembly to be
held at Columbia College June
28-30. Mrs. Davis gave some
highlights of the programs to
be used at these meetings. Mrs.
Lula Bedenbaugh and Mrs.
Hartley will be delegates to the
Assembly and several other la
dies plan to attend some part
of the meeting.
The Fellowship is happy to
add the name of Mrs. E. R.
Baker to its rolls.
There will be no meeting of
the Fellowship during July and
August.
During the recreation period,
conducted by Mrs. Ora Daven
port, a very interesting flower
quiz and a floral wedding were
enjoyed. The group then joined
in singing several old familiar
hymns.
Delicious refreshments were
served from a beautifully dec
orated table. The ladies gave
Mrs. Whitener a rising vote
of thanks for her hospitality.
It’s good to get home...
after a day of hard work or hard play. And it’s
pleasant to relax with cool, refreshing beer. In
fact, 65 % of all the beer produced in this country
is enjoyed at home. It cheers your taste as it re
news your zest. So, make yourself at home ...
with beer.
