Today it is possible to buy eggnog from the milkman or the corner grocer— or make your own as folks used to do. Here is a typical recipe: Traditional Christmas Eggnog 6 eggs, separated V2 cup sr.gar 2 cups light or whipping cream 2 cups milk & teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons vanilla Freshly ground nutmeg Beat egg yolks and sugar until thirk and lemon-colored. Beat in cream, milk, salt and vanilla. Beat egg whites until they hold stiff peaks; fold into egg yolk mixture. Serve in chilled punch bowl; sprinkle with nutmeg. Makes 2V» quarts. OVERWHELMED . . . Wow! seems to be the reaction of these two young ladies as they view the huge collection of dolls at a New York doll show. A dress-a-doll contest was staged to provide dolls for Christmas distribution in lonely mountain areas.. Bathrooms, especially in older houses, are often a real problem. They are usually unattractive and lack essential storage space. You might tackle the problem by enclosing the sink in a modern cabinet with sliding doors. One side can be drawers to - hold the thousands of items that collect in every household bath room. The top of the cabinet should be of a hard, water-proof material. Above the cabinet in stall a long medicine cabinet with sliding mirror doors. Install a modern light above the mirror- cabinet. This is the major part of this redecorating plan. You can carry on from there with fresh paint Do you have a small room in your home tiiat gives you that cluttered, smothered feeling every time you walk into it? There’s a solution to this problem First, remove all furni ture from the room so you can start the decorating problem properly Ter many things remain if : .m just shuffle furniture around Then, cover one wall of the room with a mirror This is especially effective if one side of the room has large window's. The mirror will reflect the windows giving the room an illusion of depth. This often calls for improvisions and do-it- yourself projects, refinish ing old pieces of furniture (often very beautiful), and generally adding to the house decor over a long period of time. This type of buffet can be es pecially attractive now that there are many types of paneling avail able, that look like expensive wood paneling, that comes in sec- ss***'?! and towel racks. Incidentally, the hardware- handles, etc.—which you put on the cabinet can be very effective in your decoration scheme.
