Then las Wicker Dies Suddenly Thomas H. Wicker, 77, died sud denly Sunday afternoon at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Robert Dennis at Kinards. Mr. Wicker was born and rear ed in Newberry County and was the son of the late Melvin and Louise Lominick Wicker. He made his home in the St. Phillip’s sec tion of the county and operated Lis farm and dairy as long as his health permitted. He was a mem ber of St. Phillip’s Lutheran Church and was made a life mem ber of the ULCW by his children. His wife, Mrs. Lillie Maude Shealy Wicker, passed away 34 years ago. Mr. Wicker is survived by one son, Thomas Melvin Wicker, Co lumbia, four daughters, Mrs. Inez Hikard, Atlanta; Mrs. Beatrice Hedgepath, Mrs. Amy Summer, both of Newberry, and Mrs. Sara Alice Dennis, Kinards; two broth ers, Ben C. Wicker and James T. Wfcker, both of Newberry; two sisters, Mrs. Edgar Dominick and Mrs. L. P. Shealy, both of New berry; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services v. r ere conduct ed at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Phillip’s Lutheran Church by Rev. C. L. Richardson and Rev. Arden 94 Drivers Going Too Fast Ninety-four drivers were charg ed with driving too fast for con ditions during November in Mag istrate’s court, according to Mag istrate Ben F. Dawkins. The charge counted for the majority of the 163 cases heard during the month by the magistrate, during which time he collected $1988.50 in fines. Other violations were no driv er’s license, drunk, excessive noise, six each; no license plates, failure to dim lights, improper passing, five each; following too closely, four; failure to yield right of way, no driver’s license in posses sion; no clearance lights and re flectors, driving left of center, three each; improper backing, de fective brakes, disregarding traf fic signal, two each; driving un safe vehicle, violation 58-1439, no trailer registration—nc license displayed ,trespassing after notice, violation section 38-1439, disord erly conduct, load projecting over bed of truck, possession of illegal liquor, failure to display fuel tax marker, failure to stop for red light, failure to transfer owner ship, failure to give turn signal changing lanes unlawfully, and unlawful weapon, one each. Six Report For Armed Forces Five “selectees” and one volun- tee will report for active duty witl the Armed Forces on Mon day, December 1, according to Lo cal Board No. 36, Selective Serv ice. These men are; James Ray Bickley, Rt. 3, Prosperity; Sam- mie David Summers, Little Moun tain; Fred Wendell Pugh, Rt. 2, Prosperity; Larry Watts Metts, Little Mountain; George Edward Wilson, 521 Brantley St.; and vol unteer Johnnie Lee Robinson, Newark, N. J. Also reporting at the same time will be 29 registrants from the Local Board who will go to Fort Jackson for Armed Forces Physi cal examination. Mrs. May me Lee West of Franklin, N. C. plans to spend most of the winter months here with her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. G. V. Clamp on Boundary St. was in the the Stewart. Interment church cemetery. Women of Mayer Memorial Lutheran Church will have “Men’s Night” in the Fel lowship Hall Saturday at 7 p.m. A covered dish supper will be served. The Luther League Christ mas Party will also be held Sat urday at 7:30 p.m. at the Scout Hut. Sunday School will be at 10 a. m. Sunday, morning worship at 11, with Dr. Derrick’s sermon topic, “God’s Day Wins.” At. 3 p. m. there will be a Christmas Pa geant rehearsal, followed by Lu ther League meeting.
