Most people fetw water for food reason—they cannot swim. Yet, barring some physical disability, there is today little excuse for an individual not being able to swim. Few communities do not have reg ular learn - to - swim programs. While it is true that these pro grams are mainly geared to teach ing youngsters, adult instruction it offered in most instances. If you are a non-swimmer, check first with your local YMCA and Red Cross chapter. Chances are, instruction is available to you. Both of these organizations have been responsible for teaching thou sands of youngsters and adults how to taka cara of themselves in the water. Learning to swim usually takes only a short time. But it opens up a now area of wonderful outdoor recreational activity — swimming, boating, water skiing, skin diving and fishing. Thousands and thou sands are taking up one or more of these sports each year. It is natural that the inability to swim brings a psychological fear of water—but it is a fear that is simple to overcome through learning to swim. Swimming, like bicycle riding or roller skating, calls for only a lit tle co-ordination and effort. With proper instruction, it is usually as simple as rolling off a log. Tj'ABRIC or rugs frayed? When your bath towels get worn edges, sew contrasting bias tape on them and you can double the wear of the towels. If the belts on washable cotton dresses become limp after a few launderings, dip them in a perma nent-type starch that does not wash out and they'll remain nice and crisp for the life of the dress. Towels all over the bathroom? Attach curtain rings to the towels 4) 2 cup# cooked large dry limas 1 S-ounce can tomato aauee % cup soured cream 1 tablespoon grated onion % teaspoon salt Pepper to teste 1 tablespoon brown sugar ¥e cup crumbled crisp bacon Place limas in baking dish. Combine tomato sauce, soured grated onion, salt, pep per end brown sugar. Heat to simmering, but do not boil. Pour over beans, mixing light ly. Top with bacon. Bake in a moderate (3S0*P.) oven for SO to S5 minutes . with needle and thread and slip the rings over shower curtain hooks. They can be used but not removed from where they are placed. Much of the loose dirt on up- bos tery can be taken off by rub bing a damp sponge over it. This is also excellent treatment if you have a dog or cat which gets its hair on furniture. This sponge treatment may also be used on rugs. Use masking tape on small sized rugs to make a room-sized rug which can be taken apart readily Hr laundering.
