At noon a bountiful picnic dinner was served. Coming for the celebration were the following children and grandchildren: Mr. and Mrs. Al ton Quattlebaum and son, James; Mr. and Mrs. Lawson Harmon, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Harmon and two daughters, Rita and Terry of Newberry; Mr. and Mrs. Maxcy Harmon and two daughters, Mar tha and Mary, Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam Riggers ana son, Billy, of Rock Hili; Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Hartman of Columbia; Mr. and Mrs. Bowers and two daughters, Audrey and Anne of Pomaria; SCOUT PROMOTIONS The Newberry Troop 101 Boy Scout Board of Review met Thurs day, April 3 with W. R. Brooks, chairman, P. C. Threatt and Irby L. Longshore present. Promo tions in Troop 101 were Wayne Abney, Earl Domihack, Terry Holsonback and Bobby Kinard from Tenderfoot to second class. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Hartman and daughter, Reba, Mr. and Mrs. Al len Harmon, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wicker, Mr. and Mrs. David Har mon of Prosperity. Also attending were Mrs. Har mon’s two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Harmon and Mrs. Tiller Hendrix and Mr. Hendrix of Prosperity and a close friend, Mrs. Gussic Dawkins, also of Prosperity. Mrs. Harmon received many gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Bowers have moved into the Ross home which they recently purchased. With Mr. and Mrs. Hunter Fel lers for the weekend were Mrs. Henry Barnet of Uniontown, Pa., Mrs. Horace J. Culbertson of Lewistown, Pa. and Pvt. Larry Culbertson of Fort Jackson and Lewistown, Pa. Weekend guests of Mrs. O. B. Shearouse were Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Shearouse of Glen Alpine, N. C., and Mrs. J. T. Martin of Laurens. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Bedenbaugh of Easley spent the weekend with relatives in and near Prosperity. Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Joyner of Townsend, Ga., ,and Mrs. Henry Waters of Statesboro, Ga., were guests last week of Mrs. C. B. Bedenbaugh and Mrs. R. T. Pugh. Nichols. Students Elect The Newberry College Method ist Student Fellowship held its Spring Banquet at the Panomara Lodge on Wednesday night, Ap ril 16. The evening began with the election of officers for the year 1958-59. Ed Johnson of Mullins, outgoing president, opened the meeting and the following officers were elected: Jimmy Lee, Man ning, president; Loretta Wertz, Newberry, vice president; Bill Dukes, Orangeburg, secretary- treasurer; and Jackie Crooks and Suzanne Lewis, both of Newberry, publicity chairmen. Tommy H. Longshore, who has been stationed with the Navy at Quonset Point, R. I., spent last week in Newberry with his moth er, Mrs. Rosine Longshore. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph E. Cromer are now residing at 2702 DeLoache Ave. Officers Named Patsy Grant of the Chester chapter of the Future Homemak ers of America was elected presi dent of the District II FHA con vention held at Byrnes High School, Duncan. Among the other district offi cers elected was Janet Hawkins of Prosperity, reporter. Linda Smith, district president, of Newberry, presided * over the opening ceremony and the busi ness session of the meeting which began at 10:30 a. in. Entertainment was furnished by Byrnes High School. Among the chapters receiving excellent awards were Little Mountain, Newberry and Prosperity.
