Mrs. Irby Harmon’s home was
the scene of a happy occasion
Sunday, April 20, when her chil
dren and grandchildren and close
relatives gathered for a spend-
the-day celebrating Mrs. Har
mon’s seventy-sixth birthday. At
noon a bountiful picnic dinner
was served.
Coming for the celebration
were the following children and
grandchildren: Mr. and Mrs. Al
ton Quattlebaum and son, James;
Mr. and Mrs. Lawson Harmon,
Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Harmon and
two daughters, Rita and Terry of
Newberry; Mr. and Mrs. Maxcy

tha and Mary, Mr. and Mrs. Wil

Rock Hili; Mr. and Mrs. Hubert

Scout Board of Review met Thurs
day, April 3 with W. R. Brooks,
chairman, P. C. Threatt and Irby
L. Longshore present. Promo
tions in Troop 101 were Wayne
Abney, Earl Domihack, Terry
Holsonback and Bobby Kinard
from Tenderfoot to second class.
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Hartman and

Mrs. Harmon received many
gifts.

have moved into the Ross home
which they recently purchased.

Students Elect
The Newberry College Method
ist Student Fellowship held its
Spring Banquet at the Panomara
Lodge on Wednesday night, Ap
ril 16.
The evening began with the
election of officers for the year
1958-59. Ed Johnson of Mullins,
outgoing president, opened the
meeting and the following officers
were elected: Jimmy Lee, Man
ning, president; Loretta Wertz,
Newberry, vice president; Bill
Dukes, Orangeburg, secretary-
treasurer; and Jackie Crooks and
Suzanne Lewis, both of Newberry,
publicity chairmen.
Tommy H. Longshore, who has
been stationed with the Navy at
Quonset Point, R. I., spent last
week in Newberry with his moth
er, Mrs. Rosine Longshore.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph E. Cromer
are now residing at 2702 DeLoache
Ave.

dent of the District II FHA con
vention held at Byrnes High
School, Duncan.
Among the other district offi
cers elected was Janet Hawkins
of Prosperity, reporter.
Linda Smith, district president,
of Newberry, presided * over the
opening ceremony and the busi
ness session of the meeting which
began at 10:30 a. in.
Entertainment was furnished
by Byrnes High School. Among
the chapters receiving excellent
awards were Little Mountain,
Newberry and Prosperity.
