Mrs. Epting, 91, Rites Saturday Mrs. Sara Long Epting, 91, died Thursday afternoon at the New berry County Memorial Hospital following several years of illness. Born and reared in the Mt. Pilgrim secflon of Newberry County, she was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Her husband was the late J. J. Ep ting. Her only child, Mary Ellen, died a number of years ago. Since the death of her husband, she had lived with her brother’s family, the Lawton S. Longs of near Prosperity. She was the last surviving member of her imme diate family. Her parents were the late George A. Long and Mrs. Mary Ann Monts Long. Funeral services were held Sat urday at Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church by the Rev. J. S. Wessing er. In the South Carolina Lutheran Sy nod he has served on the Parish Education Committee and as Film Librarian of the Synodical Film Library. He has been active in civic and community projects. During World War II he was an Ensign in the U. S. Navy, 1942- 46. He is married to the former PROF. The new librarian for Wessels Library will be Mr. George Lie- berg Olsen, a native of Mankato, Minn. He is a graduate of St. Olaf College? and received his M.A. de gree in Library Science from Florida State University. He has done additional graduate study at MR. OLSEN wr s REV. Mr. Olsen has been associated in college adminstration for a num ber of years serving as Assistant to the Dean at High Point College and since 1949, has been in several positions i n the University of Florida Library, as Gift and Ex change Librarian, Cataloger and Classifier. Mr. Olsen* has been active in civic and community affairs and is a member, of several profession al library associations. He is single and is an active member of the Lutheran Church in Gaines ville, Fla. In the Department of English, Miss Margaret Paysinger has been appointed to the position of Assistant Professor of English. Miss Paysinger is a native of Newberry and graduated from Newberry College with the A. B. MISS PAYSINGER degree, magna cum laude. She received her M. A. degree from th University of North Carolina. Miss Paysinger taught French and Latin at Batesburg-Leesville High School for two years and has taught at Newberry High School for the past seventeen years. Miss Paysinger has been active in the Newberry Business and Professional Women’s Club; New berry Music Club; Literary Study Club; and Jasper Chapter, D. A. R. She is a member of the Luth eran Church Of the Redeemer, a choir member, Sunday School teacher, and member of the Unit ed Lutheran Church Women. In the Department of Business Administration, Mrs. Joe F. Love lace, the former Dorothy Leap- hart, has been appointed to the position of Instructor in Typing, Shorthand, and Business Subjects. MRS.
