Mrs. Sara Long Epting, 91, died
Thursday afternoon at the New
berry County Memorial Hospital
following several years of illness.
Born and reared in the Mt.
Pilgrim secflon of Newberry
County, she was a member of Mt.
Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Her
husband was the late J. J. Ep
ting. Her only child, Mary Ellen,
died a number of years ago.
Since the death of her husband,
she had lived with her brother’s
family, the Lawton S. Longs of
near Prosperity. She was the last
surviving member of her imme
diate family. Her parents were
the late George A. Long and Mrs.
Mary Ann Monts Long.
Funeral services were held Sat
urday at Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran
Church by the Rev. J. S. Wessing
er. Burial was in the church cem
etery.

ciously sent to me while recover
ing from the accident I had a
short while ago. The gift given

Vacation Bible School of the Luth
eran Church of the Redeemer was
appreciated so ver£ much and
since it is impossible for me to
write each of you a personal note,
please accept my most sincere

I appreciate the thoughtfulness
of those who were so kind as to
inquire of my welfare. The senti
ment that prompted these kind
nesses mean so much to me.

Library will be Mr. George Lie-
berg Olsen, a native of Mankato,
Minn. He is a graduate of St. Olaf
College? and received his M.A. de
gree in Library Science from
Florida State University. He has

Mr. Olsen has been associated in

civic and community affairs and
is a member, of several profession

Assistant Professor of English.
Miss Paysinger is a native of
Newberry and graduated from
Newberry College with the A. B.

Miss Paysinger taught French
and Latin at Batesburg-Leesville
High School for two years and has
taught at Newberry High School

In ofering- for the position of Mayor
of Newberry, I come to you as no strang
er but one who was bom and reared in
our community. '
For the past 30 years I have operated a business
here in the retail grocery field, and for a period of ten
years have served as Councilman from my ward (six
of those years serving as Mayor Pro Tem). I am a
member of the local Kiwanis club and have the best
interests of my community at heart.
I believe firmly that the experience I have had as
a businessman and councilman, enables me to more
fully understand the needs of Newberry and I shall
endeavor to apply this experience to the problems of
our community, if honored with election.
I intend in the ne^r future to give you a full, clear-
cut picture of my platform, and the goals which I
shall strive to attain, with the help of the Council you
select.
