Lions Ladies To Be Feted Soon The annual Ladle’s night of the Newberry Lions club will be held at the Newberry college dining hall at 8 p.m. on April 3. Dr. F. A. Truett, Lion president,will act as toastmaster. Included on the program will be the invocation by Rev. Gordon H. Mann, rector of St. Luke’s Episcopal church; greetings to the club by O. M. Mullinax, governor of Lion district 32-C; special mus ic by students of Newberry col lege. Guest speaker will be C. A. Kaufmann, president of the col lege. Flowers and favors will be pre sented to all the lady guests. The committee in charge o f plans for the Ladie’s night prog ram includes L. C. Mrs. Buddy Hunt of Greenville spent last Friday at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben F. Dawkins on Nance street. F. Scott Elliott, Jr., who is a student at the Opportunity school jn West Columbia, is spending the ISaster holidays with his parents, Prof, and Mrs. F. Scott Elliott on the college campus. Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Carter and young son, Syd spent the past weekend with Mrs. Carter’s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard L. Baker on Walnut street. Easter Seal Sales Lagging Although complete reports from the various phases of the cam paign to raise funds for the Crip pled Children’s Society of New berry are not in, reports thus far submitted indicate that the drive is falling short of the $2230 quota. Mrs. J. D. French, president of the Newberry county Crippled Children Society, said today that a little over $1000 has been de rived from the sale of Easter seals. Response to the seal sale has been slow, said Mrs. French, who urged those who received the stamps and who have not contri buted to do so as soon as possible. She also said that those who did not get the. stamps could send contributions to her or to Fred Lester, chairman of the campaign. The Easter Lily sale, held last Saturday, brought a little more than $200 to the fund, as did the “Bunny” cards which have been returned from the school children. Civil Service Region has announced examina tions for accounting clerk and supervisory accounting clerk pay ing $3415 to $4080; mathematician paying $5440 to $10,320. and in formation specialist, paying $5440 to $6390. Applicants for the accounting positions will be required to take a written test in addition to meet ing certain experience require ments. No written test is required for mathemetician and informa tion specialist. An intensive post-truce training program is supervised by I corps for the UN units under its con trol. A section chief in Battery B of the corps’ 96th Field Artillery Battalion, Sgt.
