Lions Ladies To
Be Feted Soon
The annual Ladle’s night of the
Newberry Lions club will be held
at the Newberry college dining
hall at 8 p.m. on April 3. Dr. F.
A. Truett, Lion president,will act
as toastmaster.
Included on the program will
be the invocation by Rev. Gordon
H. Mann, rector of St. Luke’s
Episcopal church; greetings to the
club by O. M. Mullinax, governor
of Lion district 32-C; special mus
ic by students of Newberry col
lege. Guest speaker will be C. A.
Kaufmann, president of the col
lege.
Flowers and favors will be pre
sented to all the lady guests.
The committee in charge o f
plans for the Ladie’s night prog
ram includes L. C. Floyd, chair
man; Pope Buford, Ed Cannon,
Tom Fellers, George Martin and
Irvin Saterwhite.

Sales Lagging
Although complete reports from
the various phases of the cam
paign to raise funds for the Crip
pled Children’s Society of New
berry are not in, reports thus far
submitted indicate that the drive
is falling short of the $2230 quota.
Mrs. J. D. French, president of
the Newberry county Crippled
Children Society, said today that
a little over $1000 has been de
rived from the sale of Easter
seals. Response to the seal sale
has been slow, said Mrs. French,
who urged those who received the
stamps and who have not contri
buted to do so as soon as possible.
She also said that those who did
not get the. stamps could send
contributions to her or to Fred
Lester, chairman of the campaign.
The Easter Lily sale, held last
Saturday, brought a little more
than $200 to the fund, as did the
“Bunny” cards which have been
returned from the school children.
