Turner JEWELER Caldwell St. Newberry Brief History Given Of Newberry County Medical Auxiliary The Auxiliary to The Newber ry County Medical Association was organized March 15, 1925. The first meeting was held in the home of Mrs. Prank Mower, who had worked faithfully to or ganize an Auxiliary. Seven ladies responded to her call and the Auxiliary was organ ized with the following charter members: Mrs. J. I. Bedenbaugh, Mrs. Olin Hentz, Sr., Mrs. Robert Houseal, Mrs. Frank Mower, Mrs. E. Harrison Moore, Mrs. A Theo dore Neely, Mrs. Keefer Wicker. Officers elected to serve three years were: Mrs. Frank Mower, President; Mrs. Robert Houseal, Vice - President; Mrs. Keefer Wicker, Secretary; Mrs. A. T. Neely, Treasurer. ' The meetings were held in the homes of the members every thrde months. Dues were ($1.00) one dollar per year. One social meeting was held at the Country Club with the hus bands as guests. After two years in office, Mrs. Mower asked that new officers be elected. Mrs. Robert Houseal was elect ed President, Mrs. H. B. Thomas was elected Vice-President, Mrs. Keefer Wicker was elected Sec retary, and Mrs. A. T. Neely was elected Treasurer. The president never called a meeting. After every effort was made to have a call meeting, with no success, those Interested be came discouraged and the Auxili ary wps given up. On June -4, 1947, nine wives of the doctors of Newberry Coun ty, namely: Mrs. Gordon Able, Mrs. A. J. Katzberg, Mrs. R. E. Livingston, Mrs. Reyburn W. Lominack, Mrs. V. A. Long, Mrs. E. H. Moore, Mrs. A. T. Neely, and Mrs. Arthur Welling met in the home of Mrs. Gordon Able and reorganized the Auxiliary to the Newberry County Medical As sociation (or Society).. The following officers were elected: Mrs. Gordon Able, Presi dent; Mrs. J. I. Bedenbaugh, Vice- President; Mrs. R. E. Livings ton, Secretary; Mrs. A. T. Neely, Treasurer. John H. Clark,' 51, Father Of Resident Passes In Clinton John H. Clark, 51, died sud denly Saturday afternoon, in Clin ton. He had been in declining health for several years. Three of his children by his first wife reside in Newberry. They are: Mrs. Doris Rowe, Bruce D. Clark, and Eugene Clark of the U. S. Navy. Two of his children by his sec ond wife who also live here are. Miss Margaret Clark and Miss Ruby Clark. Four committees were appoint ed — Program, Entertainment, (Flower, Card and Visiting) and Nominating. Four meetings are held each year. Officers are elected each year. Dues for a year are one dollar ($1.00). The outstanding activity for 1950 was recruiting; nurses at a Tea given at the Nurses’ Home by the Auxiliary. As a result, fifteen girls chose nursing as their profession. Reorganizing the Hospital Aux iliary is the next project for 1951. Officers elected for 1951 are: Mrs. Arthur Welling, President; Mrs. Virgil Rinehart, Vice-Presi dent; Mrs. Elbert Dickert, Secre tary; Mrs. Von Long, Treasurer; and Mrs. Harrison Moore, His torian. The members of this organiza tion for 1951 are: Mrs. Gordon Able, Newberry; Mrs. Ralph Baker, Newberry; Mrs. J. I. Bedenbaugh, Prosperity; Mrs. El bert Dicker^ Newberry; Mrs. R. E. Livingston, Newberry; Mrs. Reyburn Lominack, Newberry; Mrs. Von Long,* Prosperity; Mrs. E. Harrison Moore, Newberry; Mrs. A. Theodore Neely, New berry; Mrs. H. B. Thomas, Whit mire; Mrs. C. A. Dufford, New berry; and Mrs. H. B. Senn,-New berry. This is the History of the Aux iliary from , March 16, 1925 to March 15th 1951. In April of 1951, Hhe Auxiliary affiliated with the State Auxili ary and is carrying out the State’s programs. The dues now are four dollars per year. Mrs. E. H. Mrs. Lillie Tollison Funeral Held Sunday Mrs. Lillie Belle Tollison, 42, died early Friday morning at the Newberry County Memorial Hos pital. She was stricken Tuesday and had been in a critical con dition since that time. Mrs. Tollison was born and reared and spent most of her life in Greenville County and was the daughter of Mrs. Ada Weathers ‘'Tollison and the late Jim Tollison. She had made her home in New berry for the past year.
