Scruggs on College street Extension, and at Day tona Beach Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Hubert D. Crum and two sons, Dixon and George, of Columbia, spent the past week end in the home of Mrs. Crum’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo]&e F. Scruggs on College street exten sion. Mrs. H. B. Kirkegard and two children, Karen and Elleaner, of Siler City, N. C., arrived in the city Tuesday afternoon for a visit in the home of Mrs. Kirke- gard's mother, Mrs. P. D. Johnson, Sr., on Boundary street. Miss Mary Johnson of Colum bia, spent a few days the first of the week with her mother, Mrs. P. D. Johnson on Boundary street. She also attended the Martin-Summer wedding which took place in the Central Metho dist church Wednesday afternoon at 5 o’clock. Misses Cora and Mazie Domi nick are spending this week in Asheville, N. C. with friends. Sgt. Tommie McCrackin is re turning to George Air Force Base in California today (Friday), after spending a week’s furlough here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. McCrackin on College street. Dr. E. D. Kerr, a member of the Columbia Seminary faculty in Decatur, Ga., with his wife and father-in-law, Z. F. Wilson, arriv ed in Newberry Tuesday to send the summer months at their home on E. Main' street. Frank Kinard returned to the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill Thursday to continue to work towards his degree, after spending a week’s vacation here with his parents, Dr. and Mrs. James C. Kinard on College street. Jim Kinard of Columbia, spent the past weekend in the home ( of his parents. Dr. and Mrs. James C. Kinard on College street. Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Ripley will occupy the Judge Griffiths home on E. Main street. Mr. and Mrs. Jess Dickert are now residing in their home on Amelia street which they recent ly purchased. Mad dox have moved to the Swindler garage apartment on Pelham street, recently vacated by the Jess Dickerts. Miss Fay Murray, with ten of her Converse College girl friends, are spending this week on a house party at,St. Simons, Ga, Mrs. R. J. Ross, who underwent a major operation in the Newberry Me morial Hospital on Monday May 28, returned to his home on Dray ton street, Sunday, and is now recruperating nicely.
