Hutchin son announce the birth of a daughter, Melanine June, born on Friday, September 29th in the government Hospital at Camp Davis, in the Panama Canal Zone. The Hutchinsons have two other children, Tony Eugene, six and Marsha Ann, three years old. Captain Hutchinson is the son of Mrs. C. E. Hutchinson, Boundary street this city. Hancock will enter tain the Dogwood Garden Club Monday afternoon, Oct. 30, at 3:36. Dr. E. M. Anderson of New berry was guest speaker at the Prosperity P. T. A. at its month ly meeting last Monday evening. “Care of the Teeth” was the subject Dr. Anderson discussed. Mr. Carroll Pitts of Newberry presented Boy Scout work and Mrs. Walter Hamn presented Girl Scout work. The P. T. A. voted to sponsor both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Definite plans for the Scout work will be pre sented at the next meeting of the P. T. A. The Rev. C. E. Seastrunk con ducted the devotions and Mrs. Gurdon W. Counts presided over the meeting. The membership committee sponsored a contest and offered a fountain pen to the pupil In grammar school and high school who secured the largest number of memberships. Bruce Connelly was winner from the grammar grades and Rhodney Bedenbaugh from the high school. The second grade won the at tendance prize. Misses Gay Bowers and Beth Pugh were in Columbia last Fri day for the State 4-H meeting and achievement banquet Friday evening. Miss Bowers won a citizenship award and was an overnight guest of Governor and Mrs. J. Strom Thurmond at the governor's mansion. Miss Pugh was selected one of the four out standing 4-H club members of the State and will attend the Nation al 4-H Club Camp in Washing ton, D. C. next June. Misses Margaret Lawrence and Barbara Thomas of Spartan burg and Winthrop College, N. L. Shearouse of Salisbury N. C., and Frank Reid Shearouse of New berry College were Saturday night guests of Mrs. O. B. Shea rouse and Miss Eleanor Shea rouse. Charles Seastrunk of Clemson College accompanied by his class mate, Terry Lipscomb, spent the weekend with the Rev. and Mrs. C. E. Seastrunk. Mrs. O. B. Shearouse and Miss Eleanor Shearouse were guests of Mrs. J. T. Martin in Laurens Sunday. ■ Pat E. Wise has returned from a business trip to Atlanta. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Richards and their son Tommy of Heath Springs and their other son, A. J. Jr., of P. C. visited Mr. and Mrs. B. T, Young Sunday. Mrs. H. B. Hendrix was in Greenville Wednesday to hear the lecture of the noted Japanese Christian lecturer, Kagawa. With Mrs. J. C. Metts for the weekend were Mr. and Mrs. J. I. Byrd and their three children of Florence. Mrs. George Counts of the county is visiting her son, Elbert Counts and Mrs. Counts. Mrs. C. T. Wyche is spending the week with her daughter, Mrs. James F. Goggans, in Columbia. Dr. and Mrs. Joe E. Fred of Columbia spent Saturday with Mrs. Fred’s mother and aunt, Mrs. E. W. Werts and Miss Kate Barre. s Miss Grace Sease visited Mrs. Dan Dillon In Elkin, N. C. last Thursday and Friday. Mrs. I. C. Wimberly is visit ing her daughter in Columbia this week. Elton C. Turner JEWELER Caldwell St. Newberry :c.v MOTHER OF DR. SEASE DIES AT EIGHTY-TWO Mrs. Margaret Monts Sease, 82, widow of Dr. J. M. Sease, a well known physican of the Little Mountain community for many years, died at her home in Little Mountain Saturday $fter being confined to her home for some time. Mrs. Sease was a daughter of the late George and Kate Feagle Monts. She was one of 3 daugh ters bora to this couple who liv ed within a stone’s throw of each other, all being members of the same church, Holy Trinity Luth eran of Little Mountain. Mrs. Sease was active in af fairs of the church and was par ticularly interested in the Home Missionary society of her church and in the betterment of her com munity. She was always present at church when health permitted, Mrs. Sease is survived by two sons and a daughter, Dr. Virgil J. Sease, Dr. Claud Sease, and Miss Elberta Sease. A third son. Dr. Ralph Sease, died several years ago. Three grandchildren, Dr. John W. Sease of Middleton, Con., Mrs. A; L. Jayroe of Georgetown, and Miss Belvln Sease of Bloom ington, Ind., and three great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 3:30 Sunday afternoon from Holy Trinity, conducted by Dr. L. G. Cooper. Burial was in the church cemetery. COOPER-GOGGAN8 Miss Iris Marie Cooper, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Cunnlus of 177 Evans avenue, be came the bride of Dr. W. H. Goggans, son of Mrs. John Gog gans of Newberry, S. C., in a simple but : impressive ceremony performed at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon. Sept. 16, in Trinity Lutheran church. The Rev. K. H. Evers of float ed at the double-ring ceremony before an altaf decorated with white gladioli and greenery. Lighted tapers in cathedral can delabra and palms formed the background for the ceremony. Mrs. L. L. Ellwein was wedding organist, and Mrs. E. J. Denton soloist, sang, “I Love You Truly” and “The Lord’s Prayer,” accom panied by Mrs. Ellwein. Given in marriage by her fa ther, Mr. Cunnius, the bride chose for her ^redding a teal blue dressmaker suit and matching off.- the - face hat trimmed in brown. Her accessories were dark brown and she carried two white orchids on a white Bible, a. gift from her paternal grandparents. For the traditional “something borrowed” the bride wore a pin belonging to her maternal grand mother, and carried a pure silk handkerchief which her great grandmother carried at her wed ding. Miss Jesse Ann Cunningham Ft. Collins, matron-of-honor, v __ attired in a . wine colored suit with which she wore black ac cessories and a wine colored orchid. . Dr. M. Freidman of Warren air base was best man for Dr. Gog gans, ' and the ushers were Col. Howard Lawerence and Lt. Ernie Clark, both of Warren air base. Mrs. Cunnius, mother of the bride wore a blue and black houndstooth suit with black ac cessories and a double gardenia corsage. The bride’s maternal grandmother, Mrs. A. M. Steph ens of Ft. Collins wore black trimmed in dusty rose and her corsage was of rosebuds. A wedding reception was held at the Officers club at Warren air base after the ceremony, after which Dr. and Mrs. Goggans left by plane for a wedding trip to San Francisco. They will be at home In Cheyenne after Sept. 25. Out-of-town guests here for the wedding were James Goggans, cousin of the bridegroom, from Chcago; Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Ibach of Bay Cty, Tex., aunt and uncle of the bride; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mchaud of Ft. Collins, also the bride’s aunt and uncle, • Mr. and Mrs. Bob Cunningham of Ft Collins. Mrs. G. A. (From the Wyoming State Trib une, Cheyenne) MRS. MINNIE LIVINGSTON, 80, DIED FRIDAY 4 Mrs. Minnie Hartman Liv ton, 80, widow of J. Hubert ingston, died late Friday the home of her daughter Ben R. Wicker, in the SL Philips section of the county. She been in poor health for the three years but serously ill a few days. Born and reared in this cot she was a daughter of the Melvin and Mary Shealy man. She taught school ofr number of yeas in the ML gim section, but for 40 years lived near Pomaria. She w&c active member of St. Paul’s eran church. Funeral services were ted Sunday afternoon from Paul’s by her pastor, Rev. Ballentine, Rev. C. H. Rev. Q. E. Gunter and Rev. M. Cullum.
