C. 37-47-3 At Fair Forest Meet On March 29 a Junior Home makers of America district meeting was held at Fair Forest. The delegates attending from Newberry were, Anne Matthews, Fay Murray, Doris Dominick, Jean Dawkins, Nancy Padgett, and Miss Bryan, the sponsor. The dress contestants attend ing were, Betty Floyd and Sue Halfacre. The meeting was opened by a speech of welcome from the president of the Fair Forest chapter. The response was made by Betty Floyd. Then the dress contest was held, in which Sue Halfacre won second place, and Betty Floyd, a rating of excel lent. These Newberry girls, who have had sewing lessons only one year, were competing against third year home econo mics students. The afternoon meeting was given over to the election and installation of officers. Doris Dominick was elected first vice- president. Following this, awards were given. The Newberry chapter won first place with a perfect score on their handbooks, the highest honor rating for their chapter, and a perfect record at the J.H.A. camp which they at tended last summer.
