Talbert, who un derwent an operation at the Providence Hospital in Columbia Saturday, is reported to be getting along very nicely at this time. Mr. E. C. Miss Beulah Edmunds, who underwent an operation at the Greenwood Hospital about two weeks ago, has returned to her home here and continues to im prove satisfactorily. here with her parents, Capt. and Mrs. Jack Scruggs. Mr. J. R. Palmer of Troy was a visitor here Monday afternoon. Mr. J. R. Watkins of the BeUvue community was among the visitors here Monday afternoon. Mr. J. L. Smith spent one day the past week in Atlanta, Ga., buying mules and mares for his salestables here. Mrs. R. G. Killingsworth of Rock Hill is spending a few days here as guest of Mrs. W. T. Strom. Judge A. B. Andrews and Mr. J. M. Hemminger of Willington were visitors here Monday afternoon. Mr. E. F. Bussey of Modoc was a visitor here Monday morning. Mr. and Mrs. t. Miss Rebecca Drucker, attractive bride-elect, was entertained in a most delightful way recently by ?Aiss Sara Bolga at her home, 237 Broad St., Augusta, Ga. A profusion of fall flowers were used in the spacious living room where four tables were arranged for bridge. After the game the guests were invited into the din ing room where a color scheme of pink and white predominated. The beautifully appointed lace covered table had in the center a minia ture bridal party in perfect ar rangement. Furqueron of McCormick announce the engagement of their daughter Anna Elise to Dr. John Burman Bowen of Register and Augusta, the wedding to be solemnized on December 19th. Miss Furqueron was given a beautiful bride’s book and Miss Rebecca Drucker, another bride- elect of December, was also re membered with a lovely gift. Hammond-Jennings The following announcement has been issued and is of cordial interest to the many friends of this popular couple: Mrs. Ethel Holmes Hammond announces the marriage of her daughter Mary Pauline to Mr. Thomas Perry Jennings on Friday, July the fifth nineteen hundred and forty Edgefield, South Carolina Mrs. Jennings, the attractive daughter of Mrs. Ethel Holmes Hammond and the late Jasper Talbert Hammond, is a graduate of the Edgefield High School and for the past three years has been employed as Clerk to the Edge- field County Auditor. She is a young woman of an unassuming sweet disposition and outstanding traits, and is admired by her many friends throughout the state. Mr. Jennings, the son of Mrs. Sudie Holloway Jennings and the late William Thomas Jennings of McCormick, was educated in the city schools and for the past five years has been connected with the Forestry Service at Bradley, South Carolina. Sheriff and Mrs. Walter T. Strom announce the marriage of their daughter, Mary Frances, to John William Bradley of McCor mick, S. C. The marriage occur red at Starr, S. C., on June 4th, 1939. The Rev. E. L. Kuguley, brmer pastor of the bride’s par ents, officiated. Mrs. Bradley is the youngest daughter of her parents. She re ceived her education at McCor mick High School and Lander College, Greenwood, S. C. She was a member of the Pi Sigma Phi Sorority, and was active in Various other campus activities. Mr. Bradley is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack L. Bradley. He is a graduate of The Citadel, Char leston, S. C., in the class of 1940, where he received his B. S. Degree in Business Administration. He received his commission as Second Lieutenant in the Coast Artillery Reserve on July 17th, 1940.
