Through Friday, January 26th, 1,927 loans totaling $7,813,084 were elosrd. The average daily loans number approximately 200 with ar’ount per loan arotmdi $1,600. According to President F. H. Dan el of the Land Bank, apprais ers are now on a current basis and •3 hours after an application for i loan is received by the bank it is in the appraisal division. The time required for appraisal and to return the papers to the bank is from ten to fifteen days. Where the abstract is furnished promptly and creditor agreements secured in the case of compilation of the debt, the time required to close a loan is about four weeks. In many instances at the present time it is the borrower who delays the bank and not the bank who delays the borrower. With loans being closed in ap- oreciable amounts tax receivers in many communities report back taxes of several years standing be ing paid up. XXX All of the 118 Production Credit Associations estimated as necessary to take care of farmers’ require ments for production loans in the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida are .set up and in position to accept applications for loans. Farmers desiring production credit should get in touch with thf Secretary-Treasurer of the loca' association cr his representative in their community. Their first step is to make out a financial state ment which shows their require ments and the amount of money necessary for the production of their crops, livestock or poultry. The lean committee of their as sociation will pass on their .appli cation and send it to the Federal Intermediate Credit Bank for dis count. The IntermediateCredit I^ank theft passes bn the. Marines Reduced The period for the filing of in come tax returns covering the cal endar year 1933 begins January 1 and ends at midnight of March 15. Within this period are filed an nually millions of individual in come tax returns, a large propor tion of which report income sub ject to the tax. The latter contain a considerable percentage of er rors, which if uncorrected by the audit would result to the disad vantage of the taxpayer. Many are errors of computation easily dis covered on the face of the return, which usually is accompanied bj a payment of more than the amount of tax due. In other re turns it is readily discernible that the taxpayer has failed to take advantage cf the personal exemp tion, credit allowed for' depend- is, or deductions from gross in comes to which he is entitled.'
