The Federal Land Bank of Colum-
Ma will clore over $8,000,000 fn
a rns during the month of Janu
ary. Through Friday, January 26th,
1,927 loans totaling $7,813,084 were
elosrd. The average daily loans
number approximately 200 with
ar’ount per loan arotmdi $1,600.
According to President F. H.
Dan el of the Land Bank, apprais
ers are now on a current basis and
•3 hours after an application for
i loan is received by the bank it
is in the appraisal division. The
time required for appraisal and to
return the papers to the bank is
from ten to fifteen days.
Where the abstract is furnished
promptly and creditor agreements
secured in the case of compilation
of the debt, the time required to
close a loan is about four weeks.
In many instances at the present
time it is the borrower who delays
the bank and not the bank who
delays the borrower.
With loans being closed in ap-
oreciable amounts tax receivers in
many communities report back
taxes of several years standing be
ing paid up.

The period for the filing of in
come tax returns covering the cal
endar year 1933 begins January 1
and ends at midnight of March 15.
Within this period are filed an

a considerable percentage of er

errors of computation easily dis
covered on the face of the return,
