At the recent meeting of the State Baptist convention held at Greenwood, Dr. Jas. McIntosh, of this city was chosen first vice-president of the con vention. Col. W. 11. Hunt was chosen as mem ber of the board of Trustees of the Connie Maxwell Orphanage on Monday last at, a meeting of the State Baptist Convention held at Greenwood. Rev. Geo. H. Waddell of the Metho dist Orphange Columbia came up Wed nesday and was accompanied home by Mrs, Waddell who had been visiting her brother Mr. Boulware of the Utopia section. Cheif Hunter has received two more pistols, which were stolen In the recent Steiglitz robbery in Columbia. Houses for rent here are needed badly as the demand is greater than the supply. We have heard of some who desired to locate here but could not find a desirable house tor rent.
