The regularly elected delegates were not able to attend and those gentlemen go as alternates to represent Newberry. A negro stole a cow from another negro living on the plantation of )r. Weir in Laurens County on Friday night last and brought it to Newberry a# dt sold it Saturday morning. The parties owning the cow have recovered it and will soon have the negro in the lockup. Salunda and Newborry Telephone Line. The force of hands erecting the Saluda and Newberry telephone line has reached town and are putting up poles in the city. The line will come into town up Scott's creek under the railroad trestles and up the street in front of the jail to Pool's stables and from there to Summer Bros.' store. The line it is said, is to be completed by next week, when we can chat with our friende over the river. Caldwell, in this city on Friday evening last In the eighteentlh year of her age. Mliss Marie was a lovely, gentle, Christian young lady and was loved by all who knew her. Her remains were ;nterred on Saturday afternoon in IRosemont Cemetery in the presence of a large gathering of sorrowing friends and loved ones.
