SEPTEM RE It 1, 1912 The Advertiser will be glnd to receive the local news of all the communities In the county. Cor respondents are requested to sign their names to the contri imiiuun.. Letters shc::!d sot be mailed later than Monday morn ing. iL It looks bad. ? ? ? Alnt It a mess? ? * ? Who said It was hot? ? ? ? It could look worse, ? ? ? Is anybody certain of the election yet? ? * ? But It will all come out In the wash. ? ? ? Have you signed your expense ac count yet? ? ? ? it Is not right to croak, but this drought Is getting serious. ? ? ? Loose primary is like a loose busi ness; It's bound to produce bad re sults. ? * ? Sen. Till man and Gov. Please are having a right nlco little time to gether, arn't they? ? ? ? We don't think that any such loose election methods will be tolerated In this state again soon. ? * * Our eonlldenco In the primary is shaken. It needs to either be safe guarded or done away with. ? ? ? By all means, do not forget the county fair In Octobor. Are you get ting thoes sehotes slicked up? ? ? ? Suppose Mr. llalrston hadn't signed his expense account. Wo wouldn't have any "korlner" would wo? ? ? ? Let's let politics bo a thing of the past and now give our attention to Chicora College and the county fair, These two are well worth our host and undivided efforts. ? ? ? While we-are disappointed in the defeat of Ira R. Jones, It was easier borne after the news was received that Laurens had another chance to secure Chicora College. ? ? ? The Advertiser doesn't know wheth er any frauds were practiced or not, Gov. Please says there were plenty of them. We are willing to take his word for It and have an investigation. ? ? ? Instead of corporation lawyers, we will be having election lawyers next thing. Instead of looking up deeds nnd titles he will have to look up pledges and expense accounts of can didates. ? * ? The continual decline of cotton at this time recalls to our mind the "dirty" campaign which the news papers conducted last fall to force the farmers to sell their produce for a higher price. ? ? ? If Governor Rlease thinks that the Jones men have stuffed the boxes, It seems to us that he would not mind a second election because then his friends could seo to It that such things do not happen a second time . ? ? ? We ask our readers to bear with an unusual nubcr of typographical er rors today. Our linotype operator is taking his vacation and his substitute is running the machine.. We have only attempted to correct those errors which would distort the meaning of the sentences. ? * * We don't know whether all of you I candidates who got the most votes, are elected or not, but If you are, good luck to you. When the votes are m and the election is declared, It's all over with us if the other parties are -willing. We will be "with you" though until the election is declared. Mi Because of the absence of our reg ular lynotype operator. The Advertiser wa? fjorced to shorten a groat many of tbe\ county letters. However, we do not wish for our correspondents to uotitbe idea from this that those items marked out are not as a usual thing desired, for they are. We are very proud of our county correspond ents and we would not have them leave out any Items which thoy have been In the habit of sending hereto fore. ? * ? The duty before the executive com mlttee today seems to us to bo Just as clear aa cryBtol. Gov. Blease has Charged fraud in the election and Judge Jones has charged fraud and numberless private citizens have charged fraud. To please all con cerned and to clear up the entire sit uation to the satisfaction of all parties, It seems that tho only course to fol low Is to order a thorough and search ing investigation wherever charges of fi mid hnve been made. If a suffici ent number of charges are sustained, then another election should bo order ed. QoV. Blcnse has stated through his attorney that he does not want tho governorship unless he has won It honorably and certainly Judge Jones does not wish to accept defeat if he won defeat dishonestly, so it seems to us that both sides ought to welcome an Investigation.
