Hut the achievement which means most hard w.orjt and gives the greatest pleasure to the old soldiers is the erection of the Confederate monument The erection of thj.? beautiful shaft In a comparatively small town and in so short a time is a remarkable triumph. The steady, determined ef fort Is a story worth recording and is told elsewhere in detail. The chapter has marked with iron crosses all the grhves of Confederate soldiers in the town and in a few spe cial oases graves in country church yards I nthe county. Ambitions for the Future. Not content with past achievements Stephen I). Lee chapter will push steadily on to other things. There is a strong sentiment Tn favor of rent ing a room for chapter use nnd be ginning in a small way a collection of Confederate relics. Plans are already in formation for a stressing of the collection of local historical Material, Officers nnd Members. Since its organization the chapter has lost three nieiube: s by death: Mrs. T, L. \V. Bailey, Mrs. C. W. Stone, and Mrs. C. A. Kills.
