It was early in the morning when our steamer halt ed and a hundred Jabbering natives came aboard, each one clamoring for our baggage. The city of .loppa rises almost perpendicularly from the sea, and if that sea he rough no traveler can ever forget his landing. Although .loppa is one of the oldest cities in the world. !'. has no harbor. Accord ingly, passengers must be brought in little boats to the shore. There is a semi-Circular hell of rocks which belts the shore, and it is with the greatest difficulty in bad weather that one can pass through these rocks, whose sav ","?? tusks are lifted above (he waves, ready to tear the keel from any vessel that encounters them. Then finally to Jerusalem. Kvery foot of land in Palestine thrills us with sacred memories. We shall not forget soon our first glimpse ol Jerusalem. Weary and tired from a long Journey Of nine and one-hall hours, we reached the summit of a small mountain and saw before us Jo. rusnlem, the City of Cod. As we look ed upon it for the flrsl time our hearts heat a little faster. We pulled off our hats and said. "Jerusalem. Jerusalem, the City of God's chosen people of tho past and the home of the new Jerusa lem, where tho Lord Jesus is to reign with his Church at his second com ing until the thousand years of millen nial reign is passed. Jerusalem at last! The one hope, the one dream, the one ambition of our Ufr? has been to visit (his beloved city. No spot on earth appeals so powerfully. both to the intellect and to tho emotions. It was through this gate that Jesus came' v hen he made bis triumphal entry In to the city. Paul passed this gate as he went forth on his tour of persecu tion. There is no city on earth like it for beauty of landscape.
