I REPORTORIALS 1 "Laurens is going to be a big city some of these days," remarked a good citizen some days ago. "It has been steadily growing and expanding for the past ten years; no big booms, no inflation of values, but just a steady, healthy growth." sold be. And that Is just right. Laurens will be a big city some of these days Looms and In flation of values are not healthy; steady growth Is best. The South Carolina .Medical soci ety is to meet in Laurens during the month of April. This city is known for Its hospitality: the people love to entertain. Some time ago. the report- ? er heard a Charleston lady say: "I have never been to a town where the people knew better how to entertain their guests and seemed to enjoy it j more, than Laurens*." So be It. When i the doctors from every quarter of the state come to this city they will meet with a royal reception, it will help Laurens to have tho doctors come and go away with a good impression. By the way. doctors are mighty influen tial men. It behooves Laurens to have them exert a favorable influence for her; they will do it after their visit here in April. Have you seen the new passenger Btation, erected by order of the rail- , road commission, completed on Decem ber 15th? It Is rdally very pretty and | reflects credit on?the railroad coin- j mission. West Main street is in bad shape. Client big holes have worn in the ma cadam, and a ride over a section of it Is about the roughest in the coun try. From the railroad bridge on out to Mr. T. I). Lake's residence Is in line shape, and it was built two years after the section from the bridge to the square. Why the difference? He cause the last piece of work was not as good ii job as the first. The ma cadam that is so badly worn has been down only four years. It is badly in need of repair. The railroad people have about cem jdeted the new roadway under the tracks on Last Main street. The change is a great Improvement; there Is really no danger of collisions now; formerly, it was extremely dangerous. Here's luck to the merchants that have come to the city during the past weeks. May progressive methods, good values, prompt and courteous treatment win the patronage deserved , for such.
