Tho Advertiser will be all Homo Print Paper. The Change will he Made in Next Week's Paper?A Word to Cor respondents. Beginningnoxt week The Advbrtis kii will be an all home print newspaper* Demand for advertising space has made this necessary. the advertiser will of cou-se be improved not merely by being all "home-print" hut because it will print the news and more of it. Some all "home-print" papers that Iwast loudest contain local and county news, with exceeding little editorial. but The Advertiser will continue to print the news of the State and the world. Moreover The Advertiser will print a first rate continued story in weekly installments. The Advertiser hopes hereafter that its correspondents will send the news promptly. Write the news briefly and without' unnecessary words but write all the news. For example it is better English to say that "Mr. Blank and Miss Monk were married Sunday" than that "Mr. Blank and Miss Monk were united in the holy bonds of ma trimony last Sunday" and the very same information is conveyed. The Advertiser again requests the ministers over the county to send in Church notices and Church news.? Church work can be helped^by? the "press and progressive ministers everywhere use t he newspapers in their work when ever they can. The Advertiser hopes to give the people of Laurens a betters newspaper than they ever had before and would be glad to have the co-operation of the of the county to this end. In a few days the advertiser Will have an agent in the field who will be glad to have your subscription. His name will be announced next week. BROTHER BOB'S BAD LUCK. Disfrnnchisciucnt Without Color or Stripe Overtakes Mini. Editor Advertiser, Sik:? f didike to express myself in the heat of passion, but under certain "provoca tions a man can ill afford to wait till he gets cool to enter protest. I have been disfranoised without the color of tho Ethiopian or the stripe of the convict. It may be reckoned a sad commentary on our political machinery to admit it but it crept upon us at last. 'We have heard much about the dangers of the Innovations of politics for the last ten years, of how a pendulum being' swung too far in one direction will by force of gravity inevitably swing too far to the other extreme sooner or later. But I had little dreamed of Bleeping idly on the precipice of disfranchiseinent only to be walloped so soon beneath its lash ing waves, it's bad. it's terrible just to think of so many clever men, brilliant and sound, one would like to vote for, and so many more hi- would like ever so much to vote against and then all of a sudden wake up and And himself all dis franchised ? a grown man, free and white, w ithout the stigma of stripe or color, squarely set down on and de prived the privilege the constitution guarantees to every citizen of the com monwealth. Vet all this happens in this great, free, fourth-of-July country of OUrs,?a country of the white, the brave and the free. Gentlemen, it's terrible! I had my ticket made out. I had given much thought to the prepara tion of it and much-. 1 had like to have said much prayer, but I didn't. (By the way, I'm afraid our prayers along this line are too few, too short, too superficial and altogether perfunc tory. It might be interesting to take a hand primary over the county some time to see how many voters actually pray earnestly and deep for wisdom to guide in the dispensation of suffrage ? especially of years when 1 happen to run. But this is a parenthesis.) No, I didn't loose over much training along this line, but will say that what ever of effort put forth by way of pre liminary preparation was ail snowed under on the 26th ult.. when I was not allowed to cast my vote at the primary. "Aye!", saytf some smart Aleck, "you should have enrolled live days before the election." Not that sir.' Haven't I been vot ing at every election without enrollingVDon't the boys always see that the names of all known Democrats are on the roll? I have lived to see boys walk up to the polls whose names could not bo found on the roll, and then half an hour later, after diligent re-search he would be notified that his name had been found. So you can call it what you please or count it as you please. I only say I didn't get to vote and feel mighty like a fellow who has been de prived of casting his vote for men ho wanted to elect, and against men he ever-so-nnich wanted to defeat. It is only one yoter to-be-sure, ' ?? the ques tion suggests itself, Whop ve matters tending? Who next? I il you, gen tlemen, on last Tuesday rnj blood boiled hot and thero poured through my pores mope sweat and hotter perspiration in one hour than over canio from me in so short a time In all my life. I was hot under tho collar, over it and all about. It's terrible, I say to be disfranchised as 1 havs been. May none of the read ers of this epistle ever reach such hu miliation, it was not a mat ter of en rollment at all: it was a matter of roll* ment. Just after leaving homo for the election precinct I was stricken with a spell of Renal Colic. Returning home 1 began to grunt and roll and when the Madam put nu. in a tub of hot water I got better but that fs what made mo so awful hot, and that is what made me sweat so, and that is how 1 was disfran chised, ft's terrible.
