Second Lancaster Church. The following is from The ^ Baptist Courier, written by Rev. J. E. McManaway, Field Editor : From the North Carolina Convention 1 went, on Saturday, to be with Rev. T. A. Dabney and his people at the Second church in Lancaster. This is a promising work and I don't know when 1 have moved among people who* are more thoroughly alive; and realizing their privileges and re sponsibilities, are pressing on to the front. I went expecting to be with Bro. Led on by their beloved pastor, who is full of energv aud common, practical, hard sense and religion, this church has done a work this year of which they can justly be proud. They have built a nice, new church, costing some eighteen hundred dollars, and which amount except about one hundred and fifty dollars has been paid, and they have paid their pastor every two week", besides giving something to the objects _ r a. i. . _ a mo ui mi' ounyenuons. i ney are ;< hopeful, bright, vigorous people and the work is in line shape. A spirit of revival seems to he on every one and on Sunday six . people united themselves with the church. This church is well located in the new mill town, which now hag a population of q some eighteen hundred people. The mills, two of them, represent a capital of one million dollars. The people received mo kindly vf into their homes, and with such excellent help as Bro. Dabney, it was an easy matter to secure twenty five new subscribers. 1 enjoyed this work immensely and appreciated the hearty invitation to remain a week and preach in a meeting. 1 here are some noble spirits in this church, both men and women, and 1 predict great things for them.
