NOT GUILTY. Hot. W.E.Johnson Acquitted ot the Charge of Murder. The State. Bamberg, Dec.?This morning al 6:30 o'olook the jury brought in a verdict of not guilty, and the Rev. W. E. Johnson was a free man, and in the sight of the law, innocent of murder in the killing of W. T. Bellinger last April. Up to 1 30 o'clock this morning it anneared that the iurv could not agree, and it was thought that the court would have to order a mistrial. This expectation was entertained generally, and it was the opinion of many during the progress of the trial. RETIRED AT MIDNIGHT. Mr. Johnson sat In the court room until midnight, surrounded by a group of his Iriends, awaiting the jury's decision. lie then retired to the jail for rest. At 5 o'clock the bailiffs were awakened and told that a verdict had been agreed on. Messengers were at once dispatched for Judge NVatts, the court officers and the prisoner. un account 01 me early liour hut few knew of this, and only a small crowd assembled. HE WAS CALM. Johnson appeared, and from his calm demeanor, one would never have suspected that he was the man who was to be told on this beautiful"Sabbath morning whether he was to sutler the penalty for a crime or wh ether he was to be returned to his family a free man. lie stood quietly and patiently and without show ing the least emotion listened as the foreman read the verdict, "Not guilty." He quietly and pleasantly shook hands with each juror then left the court room and wont to his home. PREACHED YESTERDAY. At 11 o'clock today he preach od to his congregation in the Bamberg Baptist church. Thus ends the most notable trial ever held in this county. Business was almost suspended in town and the keenest interest taken by everyone in the proceedings. II. Eaves. Stop* the Couch mnd Work* off tlio Cold. Atlanta, Ua., DEAFIVESN CATV NOT IIK CURED by local applications as they cannot reach the diseased portion of the ear. There is only one way to cure deafnesa, and that is by constitutional remedies. Deafness is caused by an lntiameu condition or trie mucous lining of the Eustachian Tube. When this tube is inflamed you have n rumbling sound or imperfect hearing, and when it is entirely closed. Deafness is the result, and unless the intlamation can be taken out and this tube restored to its normal condition, hearing will be destroyed forever; nine cases out of ten are caused by Catarrh, whioh is nothing but an inflamed condition of the mucous surfaces. We will give One Hundred Dollars for any case of Deafness (caused by catarrh) that cannot be cured by Hall's Catarrh Cure. Send for circulars, free. F. J. CHENEY CO., Toledo, Ohio.
