A change in the slip by Alvord later in the day caused inquiry and compar ison to be made at the clearing house, when it was discovered that tho two items of "previous days' exchange" and "morning additions" did not correspond with the list checked by the ex aminer, and a count of the cur rent days' cash and cheek in hands of the third teller revealed a shortage of $000,000.
