He complimented Dispenser Elliott on his method of doing business. ?Bill and Allen Cunningham, colored, were in Magistrate Caskey's court Monday for breach of laborer's contract. Each was fined $25 or 30 days on the chain gang. They are "doing time" on the gang. ?Charlie McKinna, a small colored boy, who works at the confectionery store of Mr. Richard Coates, narrowly escaped being seriously burned Monday by fire igniting a crocus sack >4 which he used around him for an apron while parching pinders. Mrs. Nannie C. Massey, wife of Mr. J as. R. Massey, Jr., died Monday morning at 4.15 after an illnness of several weeks. Mrs. Massey, whose maiden name was Miss Reed, was horn May 14, 1869, and was married to Mr. Massey about four years ago. She leaves, beside a husband, threo brothers, Messrs. J. L. Reed, J. F. Reed and W. H. Reed. Mrs. Massey was a consistent member of the M. E. church. Her remains were interred Monday afternoon at Camp creek church after a funeral service by her pastor, Rev. A.N. Brunson. Cloning of Tnuhnw School. The Taxahaw High srhool will close its spring session on next Friday night with exercises by the studonts, consisting of speeches, dialogues, recitations, etc., and vocal and in strumental music.
