of laborer's contract. Each was

chain gang. They are "doing

confectionery store of Mr. Richard
Coates, narrowly escaped
being seriously burned Monday
by fire igniting a crocus sack

Death of Mrs. J as. R, Masacy.
Mrs. Nannie C. Massey, wife
of Mr. J as. R. Massey, Jr., died
Monday morning at 4.15 after
an illnness of several weeks.
Mrs. Massey, whose maiden
name was Miss Reed, was horn
May 14, 1869, and was married
to Mr. Massey about four years
ago. She leaves, beside a husband,
threo brothers, Messrs. J.
L. Reed, J. F. Reed and W. H.
Reed.
Mrs. Massey was a consistent
member of the M. E. church.
Her remains were interred Monday
afternoon at Camp creek
church after a funeral service
by her pastor, Rev. A.N. Brunson.
Cloning of Tnuhnw School.
The Taxahaw High srhool
will close its spring session on
next Friday night with exercises
by the studonts, consisting
of speeches, dialogues, recitations,
etc., and vocal and in
strumental music.
On the following day there
will be a picnic at the forty acre
rock, to which the public is invited
