THE FIRST BABY. Its Coming is Looked Forward to With Both Joy and Fear and its* Safe Arrival is Hailed With Pride and Delight by AIL The arrival of the first bnby in the household is the happiest and most im? portant event of married life. The young wife who is to become a mother delight! to think of the happiness in store for he* when the little one shall nestle upon he* breast and latterly she shall hear it lisp the sweet and holy name, "mother.'1 But her happy anticipation quickly vanishes when she realizes the terrible pain and suffering through which she musl , pass while bringing the little one into : the world. An indescribable fpnr of the dnnger attendant upon the ordeui soot? j dissipates her joy fulness. Thousands of women have learned by experience that there is absolutely no necessity for tlv* sufferings which attend child-birth; they know that by the use of "Mother's Friend"?a scien- j tific liniment?for a few weeks before the trying hour, expectant mothers ear so prepare themselves for the final j hour that the pain and suffering of the dreaded event are entirely obviated and it is safely passed through with com- ' paratively little discomfort. All women are interested, and es-j pecially expectant mothers who for th? first, time have to undergo this trial, it' such a remedy ; for they know the puit and suffering, to say nothing of the danger, which is in store for them. "Mother's Friend" is woman's greatest blessing, for it takes her safely through thl severest ordeal of her life. Every woranl should be glad to read the little booh "Before Baby is Born," which containi information of great value to all. It will be sent free to any one who sendl their address to The Brad field Regulator Co., Atlanta, Ga. FOR YOUNG MEN. Whatsoever Tiiy Hand Findeth to Do, Do it With Thy Might." T. B. Well, *e need engineers as well as farmers. If your folks can get along reasona bly well without, you, and are willing to, go and run an engine. But 1 would learn the business from the bottom up and be a first dais engineer. By the way, this line of work is taught practically at Purdue llniverity in Indiana; the students are put on a locomotive and run it, and thus are taught every detail practically ; they go out with a full knowledge of everything connected with the business. But now I think very likely 'your lather needs you to run the farm and take care of him in his old age. It is a sort of & boyish no at tion that you can't do anything N< that you have some way got into m your head that you do not want to do. Be a man and determine that you can do, and do well, anything that you undertake. ne Now, my dear young friend, 1 have had some experience right m in this line. All through my boy- ur hood days I wanted to be a machinist. I was just wild to make and run machinery by steam. Be f(ir? I w;tu 11 voura nlil I ncail f.. th wind in my lute string with hii f* engine of my own make, using an I iron teakettle torn boiler, with I the top bolted on and the nose ! br plugged up. This same boiler had j l'l a steam whistleaiul a safety valve i of my ovn make. Once I got part ( of the skin taken oil' from my f ace bv a boiler explosion, but I never '1 whimpered. Well, my parents j were determined that I should go Ch to college, and 1 there soon forgot machinery and became interested in mathematics and languages. Later I went into business and at handled money for a wealthy th partner by the tens of thousands sit of dollars. 1 soon liked business. m< But then when I was 2G, by a sort is of happen so, we got this farm. I mi knew nothing of farming ; in fact, detested the business and ever bit since 1 had to hoe in father's gar- th< den. 1 could get a good position St in town again, but began to think Y< I must stick to something and not pr he chftncinir arnnnit anv mnro mi The farm was badly run down ev and we had a hard time at first, pa but finally went to work in ear- be nest with head and hand. With wi success came a strong love for re business. In fact the business was made over to our liking by throw uf ing out objectionable features, co Just one illustration of how I got bt interested and I muststop. I tile- ge drained a wet place, doing the ar work myself. When a rain came I went and watched the water j , running out, and then saw the I land dry out quickly alter the rain was over.
