Moore, the telephone man, of Yorkville, passed through Lancaster last Wednesday on his way to Kershaw. ?The stores will close at Heath Spring at G:30 o'clock from May 1st till Sept. 1st, Saturdays ex cepted. ?The lecture by Dr. Thornwell, next Monday night has been postponed to some further date, notice of which will be given 1 ~ A - - r- lUltT. ?The first ripe strawberry that we have seen tins season was re ceived by Mr. A. Quite a novel and romantic marriage took place near Richburg, Chester county, S. C. in the middle ot the road on Sunday afternoon Inst. The contracting parties were Mr. J. J. Stone, thp piano tuner and Miss Ella Kirkpatrick, Rev. M. W. Gordon, performed the ceremony that made them man and wife. The affair was to have been kept a secret for a while, but it leaked out and the parties concerned have all owned up. \ The governor has offered a re ward 01 *iou lor me capture and conviction of the negro fiend who committed rape on Mrs. Williams in Greenville. The people rose up en masse and hunted for the brute, but ho escaped and is now thought to be in Georgia. He is a black negro, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, has wide open spaces between his upper teeth and had on a soldier's uniform. C Presbytery, and calls were rea< for his services from Kershaw Beaver Creek and Dougla churches. lie accepted the call and order was taken tor his ordi nation and installation, in July. Kev. Chalmers Fraser was re ceived from Atlanta Presbyter; and the second Sunday in Jun appointed as the time for his in stallation as pastor of Lancaste church.
