... ' A Novel Marriage.
Quite a novel and romantic
marriage took place near Richburg,
Chester county, S. C. in
the middle ot the road on Sunday
afternoon Inst. The contracting
parties were Mr. J. J. Stone, thp
piano tuner and Miss Ella Kirkpatrick,
Rev. M. W. Gordon, performed
the ceremony that made
them man and wife. The affair
was to have been kept a secret
for a while, but it leaked out and
the parties concerned have all
owned up.
\ The governor has offered a re

conviction of the negro fiend who
committed rape on Mrs. Williams
in Greenville. The people rose
up en masse and hunted for the
brute, but ho escaped and is now
thought to be in Georgia. He is
a black negro, about 5 feet, 9
inches tall, has wide open spaces
between his upper teeth and had
on a soldier's uniform. He has
a general slovenly appaerance.
