During the session of 1897 some member of j the House, desiring to have his I county also excepted from the operation of the Act, introduced ' a bill to amend section 5 of the I Act by adding his county to those already excepted : during the proI gress of the bill through tliellouse ! and Senate other members hail j their counties added to the exceptions, and the bill was dually passed amending the Act of 1S9(? ! as follows, viz : "That section 5 of I said Act be amended by inserting the words Greenville, I'aitp't /</, C hesterfitUL and between the I word "Lexington" and the word "Oconee". This left the Act of J 1890 just as it was when originally | passed, except that the counties j of Oreenville, Fairfield, and Chesterfield were added to those counties to which the law did not applv. Acts of 1897, I'age I ?:M. It is true that the word"Lancasj tor" does not appear in section oof ; the Act as printed in the Acts of 1897, but its omission is (dearly a i typographical error, as the jour mils of both the llouso and the Senate show that no amendment I was offered to strike the word "Lancaster" out of the bill; and j they further show that the bill ! passed it< third reading in the j House and Senate with the word "Lancaster" contained in section I ft of the Act.
