FARM AND GARDEBN. Gnowzo PECAN N urs.--It Is certain ly to be regretted that ouar People can not more fully appreclate the pecan as a crop to be cultivated. Thousands upon thousands of well-arranged and carefully cultivated grov4's ought now to be coming on in all parts of the low er Mississippi valley ; yet., strange as it may seem, they are just about as few and far between as angels' visits. Why? I cannot tell, inless it is mere ly another case of the "prophet in his own country,'' the pecan being "only a wild tree,;' you know. Possibly we would all have English walnuts, would they grow with us as readily as does the pecan, and yet there isal ways ade mand for the fruit of the pecan, and It Is really more prolltable than that of the Engliblt walnut. We ought to put out pecan trees. Neglecting to do no uay be wronging ourselves, and It is un doubtedly wronging tho generation to come after us. h'lere can be no doubt of the fact that the man who leaves to his posterity a flourishling grove of pe can trees, leaves themu a legacy almost as good as a gold mine.
