Mr. Henderson Sapoch and family, who have been living at Lockhart, have moved to Gaffney and will make this their future home. Joe Meddlin forfeited a fifteen dol lar bond in the city court yesterday morning rather than face Mayor Hen ry Ross on a charge of d and d. 4 Dr. Sherrod left Sunday night for Baltimore, where he goes to take Miss Watson, who will undergo an operation at the University Hospital. Shuford and LeMaster expect to move into their new store room on Frederick street about August 20th. This is one of the prettiest business houses in Gaffney. The State reunion of Confederate soldiers takes place at Greenville Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The rate from Gaffney will be $1.65 for the round trip. There were a large number of farm- J ers in the city yesterday. They ! came here in the interest of the farmers warehouse, the construction of which is soon to be commenced. Next Thursday the Broad River | Baptist Association convenes at the | Cherokee Avenue Baptist church. This promises to be one of the most interesting sessions of rliis associa- ition. The Board of Trade will hold its 'regular monthly meeting next Friday night at the city hall. Every busi- i ness man in Gaffney should attend as : there will be some interesting infor mation imparted on this occasion. Dr. Mark L. Carlisle, the presiding elder, of this district, spent Sunday in the city. Sunday morning he oc cupied the pulpit of the Buford Street M. E. church. He preached a most interesting and instructive sermon. Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Patrick, of i Greer, spent several days in the city last week visiting Mr. Patrick’s parents. Mr. Patrick is the clever catcher of the fast Greer team and , has lots of friends in Gaffney, where i he formerly resided. Settlemyer and about twenty- five or thirty Cherokee folks went over to Spartanburg last wees and took advantage of the excursion to Charleston. They report a splendid time. Thurs- day night Mr. and Mrs. James Harris gave the young people a sociable in honor of the visitors. We are afraid some of the young girls of Macedonia kept the hearts of the North Carolina boys. The baseball fans of Gaffney will have a whole week of joy this week. Yesterday the Laurens boys came over for a three days stay on our ball lot and Thursday, Friday and Satur day the wonderful Buffalo herd will be with us. It is a great game and there will be some good ball playing. Go out and root for the home team and encourage the boys to maintain the rapid pace they have set and keep up the percentage they have made. Lipscomb was santering along Limestone street in front of Holmes & Jones’ store paying heed to no one when along came a bull dog who took ex ception to the haughty mein of the setter and proceeded to take the con ceit out of him by giving him a lick ing. Lucius Randall, who is as ten derhearted as he is big, felt sorry for the setter and attempted to take his part by grabbing the bull dog by the collar and choking him off the setter. The setter was either very much ex cited or a most ungrateful cur, as he lost no time in lacerating Mr. Ran dall’s left hand with his teeth. The wounds was cauterized at once by Dr. Pittman and no evil effect are an ticipated. Lucius vows that he will know better than to take part in an other dog fight, even if he has a long ing to help the tinder dog. TO THE !
