MIGHTY MEAN BUSINESS Some Scoundrel Tried to Wreck a Southern Train Sunday. Some one attempted to wreck a train on the Southern railway at Cherokee creek trestle last Sunday morninR by placing a large bolt on t v - track and fastening It there. Two colored mrn were on one end of the trestle on the side of the track talk- ini' Thev saw a man coming from the cut on the other side. He did not cross the trestle but stopped, stooped down and then went back. These colored men paid no particular atten tion to this man and when they had finished their conversation one of them—dim Crosby—started across the trestle and discovered the bolt on the track. He reported the discovery to Mr. W. A. Haas, who loosened the bolt and brought it to Gaffney, turn ing it over to the railroad authorities. An investigation was instituted but nothing has been discovered that would lead to the detection of the would-be train wrecker. This is the second attempt to wreck a train at this point.
