The Eiisall-Winthrope Stock Co. closed a week’s engagement at the Star Theatre Saturday night by pre senting ‘Jesse James.” Notwith standing the fact that it was the ; largest audience of the engagement i the play and acting were both “bum,” and yet it seemed to delight the audi ence, if one may be permitted to judge from the noise kept up. From | “The Power fof Man” to “Jesse James” is a wide scope, but the Edsall- iVinthrope people were equal to the emergency. The Ted E. Faust Minstrels. Olivette, the popular comic opera, was presented by the Boston Ideal Opera Company at the Academy of Music last evening in the same de lightful manner in which they ren dered The Maecotte the night before. The solos by Mr. Ed. L. Western and Miss Jule Foreman were simply charming and met with a storm of applause from the great audience. Any company would be proud indeed of two such magnificent voices. Mr. A. C. Burgess took the part of Coquelicot, and he was as amusing as the night previous. He is a splen did comedian and his every look never fails to bring forth a hearty laugh frooq the audience. During Fair week the Boston Ideal Opera Oompany filled the Auditori- 1 um every night and matinee on Sat- : urday, with an audience that was so well pleased with their performance that when the manager of the local theatre had ,an opportunity of secur ing this company for a return en gagement he lost no time in doing so. Since their appearance there has been bat one or two changes and the p , rendition of the comic opera, Olivette, ratent last night was up to the usual stand ard of the company. As each member of the troupe came upon the stage the applause that greeted them was hearty and spontaneous, especially that accor ded Miss Jule Foreman, and her rendition of the “The Last Rose of Summer,” which she saug by request, was sung with a sweetness and purity of tone that does the singer credit.
