The Cherokee Bakery has opened a confectionery store in the building lately occupied by Long & Caudle, adjoining the Star Bakery, where they will he better able to serve the trading public. Childrens’ Day was held lost Sun day at Mount Olive A. M. E. Zion (col.) Church. We learn that the young people did credit to themselves before a large audience. Rev. G. M. Although the score was rather uneven, 28 to 1, still the game was spicy. Capt. Barney, of the Gaffney club, kept hisdongurm in a circle, but the strong brawny sons of toil split the globe in two, sending it whistling through the pines, with some fielder swift in persuit. McArthur, has made ar rangements to hold a Teachers’ In stitute for teachers in Cherokee county, at Gaffney. August Rth to 14th inclusive. On this occasion State Superintendent of Education Mayfield, Dr. E. S. Joy nee, of Colum bia, Supt. E. L. Hughes, of Green ville. and Miss Mamie WVkltffe, of Rock Hill, will attend and give the teachers the benefit of their experi ence. Brof. Cleo Ethel, the two-and-a-half year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Love lace, died on Tuesday morning, of fever. The little one was laid to rest yesterday at Boiling Springs church.
