The man who leaves his team in the heat of Lite day without shelter and water for hours at a time is a brute and deserves to sutler a greater punishment. There are several chib lists in town but (ho most convenient one is at The Ledger office, so call and have your name enrolled if you want to vote in the primary. When you see anything that the Hon. When our new county is organized and the county seat located at Gaff ney, Gaffney will build the court house and jail. Miss Lillie Moscly died at S o’clock Saturday night at the homo of her parents in this city. Miss Moscly was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Moscly, formerly of Union county. She was a member of Skull Shoals ISaptist church. rite remains were interred at Cor inth graveyard Sunday afternoon in the presence of a large concourse of friends. Harry Gooding has been in the Queen City the past week spending his vacation with his parents. Mrs. R. A. Robison and Mrs. W. M. Rotnar, of Spartanburg, are visit ing Mrs. A. V. Montgomery and other relatives in this city. Mr. Rufus Whitesides, a prominent farmer of 5 ork county, was in the ; city last Friday prospecting with a view of moving his family here. He thinks lie will probably move in by ! the first of September so as to get his ! children in the schools when they open. John 0. Tate, of Asbury paid us a visit last Monday. Mr. Tate is a strong new county man, Mrs. J. J. Maguess and her daugh ter, Miss Hettie, and sons, David and Irwin spent some days in the city tliis week with relatives and friends. Robt. F. Gibson, one of the up-to- date men of the Cherokee section, brought to The Ledger office last Thursday morning the first open boll of cotton of the season. J. G. Moore, of Gouchor, was In the city last Monday. Mr. Moore is one of The Ledger’s best friends in that section. Mayor A. N. Wood has been so journing in the mountains the past week. F. G. Stacy made a flying trip to North Carolina last Thursday. N. II. Littlejohn went to the ’Rurg Tuesday on building and loan busi ness. E. P. Macomson, Esq., of tyerper, was ip the pjty yesterday. Herod Neale, of Hickory Grove, was in the city last Monday visiting friends. W. H. Brown left Monday for Woodrull with a lot horses which he will make an effort to dispose of. W. L. 8elf, of Maud, was among the throng in the city last Saturday. Miss Sullle Jennings is spending the summer with her sister, Mrs. W. S. Elmore, of York county. Miss Florence Briggs left Thursday for Gowdeyville, Jonesville and other points in Union county, witere site goes to visit friends and relatives.
